Sipping lemonade, making chocolate, washing my dog...

hoping, hoping, hoping.

Instead of trying.

Me and my grandma laying in a field, not worrying about anything or anyone. Oblivious to the change that would soon be made, oblivious to the fact that our lives may never be the same.

I have a story too, and I'm gonna share as much as I remember, as much as I can.

------------------

Me and my grandma pump up the life boat as fast as possible, not looking elsewhere. My dog, Ruby, starts whimpering. I'm surprised she made it this far with us.

Once the boat is pumped up, we lay down a thick mat. Letting Ruby up on it, she goes fast- we try to leave quicker, but a young adult waves at us. "WAIT!!! PLEASE, WAIT!" So, we wait for her. She's running quite quickly so I try not to worry. Once she gets there, I try to cast away the boat... until I see a girl around my age watch a woman- probably in her 30's- get shot in the chest. I can see the pure agony in the girls face as she watches her fall to the ground, she then hugs the woman's lifeless body and starts running impressively fast. The other woman on our boat is confused and annoyed that we haven't gone yet. "Whats the hold up?" She asks, Annoyance ringing in her voice. "T-that girl, she needs our help." I consider running out and helping her... but I decide against it, theres no saying that they won't cast off the boat without me in it. So- with me at the hold of it, I wait for her to come.

She wipes away a tear and hops on the boat, not saying a word. I try really hard not to say something and socialize, just a bit. I finally push the boat into the sea, the moment she has all her limbs in. I sit by Ruby on her mat and pet her, she looks just as scared as the girl as I rub her fuzzy red coat.

I take a deep breath and turn on the engine of the now pumped up boat. "Okay... we got this."

"So... what's your name?" I say finally, begging for any sort of communication. The girl looks startled when I face her. "Oh, uhm, Chasity." I hear the subtle ring in her voice, a soft, sweet accent. "I'm Hazel, pleased to meet you." I Extend my hand for a shake, and she reluctantly takes it. "Alright."

Alright.
