Pity

Mr. Kim basically owned half of the city. So obviously, a lot of rich people were invited. And lucky for me, I knew all of them.

Whispers surrounded me. I looked left and right and I felt glares coming from each direction. To be honest, I'm used to it. I know people hated me for something I didn't do. And I've been dealing with those glares for 9 months.

I was walking with my brother and Anton. I knew that they noticed but didn't want to react to anything. I got lost in my thoughts.

Suddenly, after a few steps, someone came up to which made me a little jumpy. Anton and Wonbin were fast to react and were ready to catch me if I fell but I found my balance and didn't.

"Woah, you alright?" she asked. I looked up and saw Minji. Minji is my closest friend who's also my cousin.

"Jesus Christ you scared me" I said.

She chuckled. "I haven't seen you out in the public in a while. It's good to have you back Jiwon"

I gave her a hug. I didn't notice that the boys were already gone. I went in the main room to check out what they had to eat.

When I walked in, all eyes were on me. "Why is everyone staring?" I asked her.

"Has it crossed your mind that you didn't show your face for 9 months and all of a sudden you're at a ball?"

I chuckled. After the accident, I couldn't get out of the house. Part of it being because the paparazzi were at my door 24/7 but also because I couldn't look people in the eyes. I couldn't deal with the mixture of pity and hatred in their eyes. It screams "She killed everyone" but at the same time, it screams "She lost everyone."

But the worst part is, they don't even know the whole story. They don't know what happened and they judge people on what they think happened.

"Miss Park" said an old man behind me. I turned around and saw Mr. Kim.

"Oh, Mr. Kim, long time no see" I said. Minji left to let us talk.

"Indeed. I'm so sorry for your loss." He said putting his hands on my arms.

"Thank you" I said. We just nodded and looked around awkwardly. We haven't talked to each other in a very long time and I didn't know what to say to him.

"Do you mind if I ask you a question?" He said, finally breaking the silence between us.

"Yeah, sure," I said.

"Is it true, did you really crash the car on purpose to get inheritance from your parents?"

Everything stopped. I didn't know what to say. I felt like everything that's breathing was looking at me. My heart started pounding faster and louder.

"Excuse us" said someone grabbing my wrist and dragging me to a dark empty hallway. The person was still holding my wrist. I looked up to see Anton.

"Are you okay?" he was. He was looking at me with concerned eyes. Mentally I was okay but his presence didn't allow my heart to slow down.

I nodded and leaned on the wall behind me. We didn't say a word to each other yet, we're both thinking the same thing.

What a jerk.

Suddenly, we heard footsteps approaching and flash lights. It was the guards. "Did you see a sigh that said 'do not enter'? I asked Anton.

"Yeah, I think so" He said. The footsteps were getting louder and louder by the second.

"How are we going to explain why we're here?" I said in a panic. After nine months of hiding, I can't be seen being taken away because of trespassing.

"Lemme check the left side, you take the right" said one guard.

"Yes sir" said the second.

"What are we going to do?" I said.

In a blink of an eye, Anton's hands were on my cheeks. "Sorry" he said. Slowly, he pressed his lips against mine. He pulled away for a second and looked at me. "Do you want to get caught?" He asked. I shook my head in response. He smirked. "Then kiss me back" he said before kissing me again. but this time stronger.

I was still in shock, but I didn't try to fight him back. I put my arms on his neck and kissed him back. He then slid his hands that were on my cheeks to my waist.

I was stuck in the moment that I forgot about the guards. the footsteps were now right next to us.

"What are you doing?" asked a guard. We pulled away and looked at the guard.

"Oh sorry, there was no other private space" said Anton.

The guard looked at us and said "Okay well this is a restricted area but..." He leaned closer and said "There is this cottage in the garden. No one really goes there. Were are the keys. After you're done you can just put the keys inside and leave." He said.

"O-oh thank you" I said before leaving the scene. I went to the main venue and looked for Minji. I scanned the room and finally found her. I went up to her, excused her and took her aside to talk to her.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"I have something to tell you" I said. I had to take her. I've told her everything for as long as I can remember and I HAD to tell her this.

"Okay but can't it wait until I talk with that cute CEO?" She asked.

"No Minji. It's really urgent" I told her.

"Okay...What happened?" she asked. Curiosity filled her face.

It was hard to get the words out of my mouth. It felt bitter on my tongue. "I may or may not kiss Anton," I said.

She paused and stayed frozen where she was. "You what!" she said with a loud voice.

Everyone was now looking at us. I smiled and bowed at everyone like nothing happened. "Would you mind keeping your voice down?" I told her.

"How was it?" she asked.

"Good I guess," I said. She gave me this look like she knew something. "Okay, fine it was really good" I said. Suddenly it hit me. I kissed my brother's best friend and it was the best kiss I've had.
