Today is my 17th birthday the day I would be paired with my fated dragon.
See in the city of dragonan when each rider turns 17 it is law that they go up into the mounting to face the ruthless yet powerful dragon king and his council.
They then take you to the top of the mountain where all the dragon lie in wait to see which one is your mate.
Yes you heard right mates, that special someone that is made for you and you alone. Once you find them you will never love another. a dragon has two forms dragon form obviously and human form.
I was snapped out of my little day dream when a knock on the door sounded outside my room
'Come in'
My uncle Trent poked his he though the door. He was the one who raised me as his own, child my father died in battle and my mother in child birth.
He didn't look a day older then 21 dragons stop ageing at 21 and live an immortal life, however I am only a rider I'm not able to change into a dragon
'You look just like your mother Alex. Her armor fit you perfectly'
'Thank uncle I just wish she was hear to see this'
'Aw cheer up little one you would of made her proud. I know it!'
'Do I have to go I don't want to meet the dragon king have you heard how ruthless he is the kids in town tell stories of his deadly nature!'
'Now don't be stupid, he's not bad he's just short temper'
'Just short tempered he could bite my head of'
'well don't worry be your crazy self and you'll be fine and I'm sure when you find your mate you'll so happy you won't even care'
'What if he doesn't like me or what if don't find him'
'You will find him he will be draw to you just like your mother was to your dad and how could he not love you'

I watched him leave before looking into the mirror one last time my eyes trailed over my curvy figure I am 5'5, pale skin, long chocolate brown hair to my bum that was now in a long braid, and the shining purple armor of a dragon. There was a chest plate that revealed my flat stomach and the belt that was equipped with my sword and purple cloth the fell in between my legs and the same at the back covering every thing but leaving my legs bare past the armor that hugged me like shorts my favourite part was the knee high armor boots with my dagger safely hidden. What I might need it. my forest green eye are what I like most I have the sight of a dragon thanks to my mother.
I stepped out of my room and swiftly walked down the halls into the street uncle had me the rains to my horse shadow and hugged me good by my aunt cried saying I would make a fine rider.
And that's how I ended up here, staring at this massive door with gold swirls, outside the castle in the mounting inside dragons waiting to see If I was theirs.
A guard look questionable at me, as if to say why are you just standing there knock on the door.
Yeah that wasn't going to happen I don't even want this, reasons of why this was a bad idea flooded my mind before I knew it I was turning around ready to run for dear life, but I froze when I saw six men on horses trotting straight at me. One in particular stuck me a dazzling his eyes a forest green just like my own his red and black amour shined in the sun his black hair swept to the to the side just above his eyes, his straight nose and strong jaw line looked so sexy-NO BAD GIRL! Don't think like that your about to get a mate!
He looked down at me his eyes trailing over my body.
He voice was smooth as he said
'What a you doing in this place are you lost'
'Um no I'm um leaving'
'And why would that be'
I could see the other men eyeing me suspiciously as if I was a threat, and i didn't like it.
'It's not really your business is it'
I had a feeling that he was shocked at my words I wonder why. I could see a man looking at me as if just hit him in the face what is it with these people. with out so much as thinking I walk past him straight up to the guy glaring at me a stared up at him, I could feel all eyes on me and with out even acknowledging any one I asked
'is that a red fire dragon sword. no way I looked everywhere for one of these not to mention there the only other sword that is a match for my purple dragon sword, where did you get it.'
The guy just looked at me shocked probably because I knew a secrete kept by dragons.
'how did you know it was a fire sword' mouth open like a fish.
'because i'm a rider and a my mother was a dragon i'm a halfling'
he looked taken back I couldn't help it his face was too funny I tried not to laugh but failed, I fell on the floor laughing didn't expect that did you, Mr glare at people!
'ah you must be Alexis'
Mr sexy green eye said I turned to him he was no off his horse and standing too close to me and I didn't like the way his eye held lust in them.
'it's just Alex and yeah I'm supposed to be in there for my ceremony for my 17th birthday but I chickened out' a sheepish smile crept up on my face 'I heard the king is ruthless and violent and scary plus have you seen his guards at the door' I said pointing 'they don't look friendly'
'so your running away, you know that it's law that you must attend unless you have already found your mate'
'only if you get caught and I plan on leaving before the king knows' he got closer until his face was inches away from mine, his smell was intoxicating, he smelt like the forest. his green eyes were boring into mine.
'show me your dragon eyes' he commanded with power.
'what no way and you can't make me' he just smerked
'Oh I can make you I am the dragon king honey and I said show me your eyes or I'll make you!'
my face went pale and i felt my heartbeat hammer in my chest crap i'm busted!!! maybe I can make a run for it.
'your the k-k-king WHAT' I turned to run but he caught my arm holding me firmly in place
'show me your eyes'
I had no choice I concentrated on making my eye change to my inner dragons when I open my eye now purple with slits, the world seemed to stop as I realisesd he was showing me his red dragon eyes too and they were beautiful I felt my heart tug. what is this feeling.
Then he spoke 4 words that would change my life forever
'You are my mate'
