Fire sighed with relief. The imposing black castle a comfort. I suppose the poor girl will have to be arrested for poaching. She sighed wearily. "Brigan," she began.
"Yes, love?"
Fire lowered her voice, even though she knew that Nya could not understand what she was saying, "She'll be exempted, of course, for 'trespassing'?".
"We'll see," replied Brigan staring at the now far away monsters. "We might get some more information on Leck," he added absentmindedly. At this, Nya's head poked up, suddenly aware.
"How do you know of Leck?" she asked carefully, in that funny lilt of hers, hesitant on what the answer could be.
He is not welcome here.Fire touched her mind. Nya flinched, surprised, then nodded.
"Lady Queen," she began.
I'm not queen. Fire said, caught off guard. Nya looked chagrined.
"Ahem. .Lady Princess, no doubt this is extremely rude, but would you be so kind to have a place for me to sleep?"
"But of course! Come in. King Nash would probably like to see you."
As they entered the palace they received a few stares from the lesser- trained servants as well as the nobles milling about. Fire gave an inward sigh. It had taken a few months, at least for the court to get used to her permanent residence. Now, looking at the way Nya shrank back and looked around at the same time she felt sympathy to the poor runaway. Fire called for a servant to show Nya a free room. "You should clean up a bit, before the king requests an audience." Fire said, noting the flash of panic on her face before Nya was led away.
