I wake up, a hand shaking me awake. the noise reminds me of where I am, and what's going on. I shove myself up, running directly into the middle of the people, the ones that want me dead.

"You wanna kill me? you can certainly try!"

Suddenly, the other girl with my power is on the ground, unable to get up, coughing blood. I rush to her side, pulling her on my lap, blasting anyone who so much as dares get close to me. "It's okay, you're okay, were gonna get out of here-" a sputter leaves her mouth, and she presses a hand against my heart, a power surge running into me, but this one isn't hostile, it's a gift.

"there can only be one... and that one... it's you" she sputters again, going completely limp, I stand up shakily, my hands alight with green flame, anger surging through my veins.

"You have one last warning!"

I feel a hand on my shoulder, I turn around swiftly, ready to blast the face off another uneducated witch.

"Cassandra... I was wrong, I'm so sorry." My face contorts with sadness, and fear.

"Mother, you need to run... get away from here, hide... I love you..." my mother smiles through teary eyes, answering "to the moon." Her lips press together, tears falling from her eyes, I can sense the regret in her mind, for betraying her only daughter.

"And to Saturn. Now go, please." I squeeze my mothers shoulders, reassuring her it's for the best, and it is, it's just a matter of trusting me.

My mother turns, flying off into the sky, I brace myself, planting my feet. A scream tears through my body, my anger taking the reins. A powerful green energy surge blasts from me on all sides, Wiping away all life in my vicinity. I fall to my knees, screaming in anguish, and despair.

When I look around, I can see my entire coven on the ground, their lifeless bodies lay limp, spilled blood from my own hand.

I simply cry.

---

Someone made it. the only friend I ever had my whole life, I worked hard to protect her from the surge. "Rosalia- oh thank god." I engulf her in a hug, squeezing her tightly, not letting go, shes all I have left, and all I've ever loved this deeply.

"Cass, what do we do now?" Her voice is in the crook of my neck, I think of a plan. I guide the books to me, opening the green one, uncovering the blank pages, and showing her the runes that depict me, the Verdant Witch. They are a tale of the one created to save the scarlet witch who frees herself from the grasp of the Darkhold.

"The Verdant Witch huh? Always knew you were special Cassandra. I always knew." She pauses, looking me in the eyes, putting her hand on my face. "you were destined for peace, if destroying this coven would grant peace, you did what was right." Tears slip from my eyes, and I hug you again.

"Lia, I know what we have to do." I look her in the eyes, "there's a mountain range, far north, a secluded cabin is hidden within it, that's where we start."

I take your had, giving it a squeeze, before flying upwards, "you coming?"

"I always do." she smiles, following me into the sky. "Oh, and what's a 'Darkhold?', I'm afraid I'm a bit confused..." she asks, clearly curious of the nature of my creation, and the witch I'm responsible for saving.
