From the ornate halls of the Greengrass manor, where ancient tapestries whispered tales of powerful witches and wizards from the past, I stood outside my father's office, straining to hear my parents' conversation.
"What are we going to do with her, Cornelius? She got expelled from school, she was in trouble with the Ministry, and we can't keep her here forever," spoke my mother.
"I already have it sorted. We are sending her to Hogwarts to be with Victoria, and hopefully, she'll learn a thing or two about what it means to be a part of this family."
Victoria is my cousin—so proper and, so devoted to all the pure-blood ideals. My parents wish she were their daughter instead of me, and truthfully, sometimes I wish the same. At least then I wouldn't be stuck in this suffocating house, forced to conform to these traditional standards of a pure-blood family. But none of that matters now because September is just around the corner, and soon I'll be out of here, living the life I've always dreamed of at Hogwarts. I couldn't be more excited.
Finally, it's September. I didn't sleep a wink last night, and my bags have been packed for two months. Clover, our family house-elf, helped me gather my things. Naturally, my parents were too busy to see me off, so Clover accompanied me to King's Cross Station. Just before leaving, she handed me a letter from my parents to read on the train.
I walked down the train until I found a somewhat empty carriage. Inside was a scrawny, pale boy with a scratch across his face and a kind of chubby boy with blonde hair. One had his nose in a book, and the other was inspecting some sort of parchment. I lightly knocked and opened the door.
"Hey, sorry, there are no other free ones. Do you mind?"
"Of course not, take a seat."
I sat down across from them and just stared at the letter in my hands. My fingers traced the edges of the envelope, but I couldn't bring myself to open it now, not in front of these strangers. My parents' words always made me cry; I couldn't even imagine what they might have written about me. Before I could think any further, two other boys came rushing in, all out of breath. One had long black hair and a cigarette behind his ear. The other had messy brown hair and slightly crooked glasses. The scrawny boy looked up at them and sighed.
"I don't even want to know," he said, going back to his book.
"What are you talking about, Moony? We didn't even do anything," the one with glasses replied.
"Yet..." the other one added.
Their conversation went on for a couple of minutes about their 'first-day prank' or something. I tuned them out and turned my attention back to the letter. I definitely couldn't open it now, not with four strangers sitting in front of me. Suddenly, I was pulled out of my thoughts and sensed them all staring at me.
"Sorry, I was distracted. I'm Annabella, I just transferred here from Beauxbatons."
They all went around introducing themselves, but when they got to the black-haired boy with the cigarette, I noticed how familiar he looked, but I just couldn't place it.
"I'm Sirius, legally a Black, but spiritually a Potter" He spoke.
And then it clicked. He was Sirius Fucking Black. Oh my Merlin I couldn't believe I was looking at Sirius Black again, after all this time. He still had his long black hair, and I could feel his ego radiating from himself.
"Oh, my Merlin! Siri, I can't believe it's you."
"Merlin's Boobies, Bella is that you?" He asked
"Yes. I can't believe I'm seeing you again. This is crazy" I replied
I stood up and hugged him. Sirius used to be like a brother to me. Sirius, Regulus, and I used to be so close, it was like we really were siblings.
"Hang on, you two know each other? How?" asked the scrawny one, that I now know is called Remus Lupin.
"Our parents used to meet at his family manor for a 'secret adult meeting' or something. They would leave all the kids in one room. Siri, Reggie, and I used to walk off on the other kids and do our own thing. Until one day, the meetings suddenly stopped, and I never saw him or Regulus again. My parents would punish me if I mentioned them," I explained to the others.
"Except the meetings didn't stop. Your family just stopped showing up. We were told that your family were traitors and were never to be spoken about or to again," Sirius added.
Wait what? I have so many questions. Why did they call my parents traitors? They are the most pure-blooded family I have ever met. Why did they stop going to the meetings? And why weren't the Black brothers allowed to talk to me?
(Hey guys, so this was my first attempt at fanfiction and I know its not the greatest, but hopefully as the story progessess my writing improves.
What do yall think about Annabella, I didn't know whether to make her a Greengrass or not, but I ended up doing it.
Let me know if yall have any suggestions, edits or comments for me.
I'll see yall next chapter!)
