The next morning Mikaela, by all accounts, should have looked and felt like death. But instead she found herself floating through the meeting rooms. Her and Arda had stayed up into the wee hours of the morning, talking about everything but business. And taking a few intermissions in their conversation to explore eachothers bodies further. They'd fallen asleep twenty minutes before her alarm went off, and she'd left him in her hotel room, still sleeping soundly. Even the struggling of the hotel staff to free her from the barricade against her door didn't wake him.
But even on zero sleep, she finessed all of the meetings of the day with such ease, that she barely recognized herself as she shook hands with Zeki outside of the building.
"She's a good one." Zeki winked at Candice, before making his way into his car, and driving off.
Candice turned to her, the widest grin on her face. "My ace in the hole!" She squealed. "I can't believe you did it. What'd you have to do? Hopefully you didn't have to jerk him off."
"No!" Mikaela shuddered at the thought. She'd come to see Zeki as more of an older brother figure. "I just worked my magic." She brushed invisible dust from her shoulder. Candice's attention focused on something behind her.
"Well I think the magical Mikaela has one more trick up her sleeve." She winked before Mikaela heard a man behind her clear his throat.
When she turned, Arda was standing there, holding back a smile.
"I'll leave you two to it." Candice scurried back inside, stealing glances at them on her way.
"Hey." His voice was a rumble that made her suddenly weak in the knees.
"Hey." Mikaela couldn't contain the giddy smile that spread across her face.
"You free for the rest of the day?" He stepped in closer to her. The subtle smell of his cologne wafted over her, making her dizzy. She was tempted to lick the scent off his neck.
"Depends on who is asking." She pretended to examine her nails. When she looked back up, the smile that was on his face took her breath away, leveling her sudden cockiness.
"Mmmm" He bit down on his lip. "Well rumor has it, you still have a lot of Istanbul to see." He leaned in closer, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Lucky for you, I know the perfect guide."
She instinctively leaned into his warmth. "Lucky me."
...
She spent the majority of Friday and the rest of the weekend exploring Istanbul with Arda. The city was more beautiful and alive than she could have ever imagined. But even with all of the magnificent sights to see, she couldn't take her eyes off of Arda. A great tour guide, but a distracting one as well. They could barely keep their hands off of eachother. Every stop they took had included some form of makeout session. Which had only heightened the anticipation for the nights back in the hotel. She'd almost opted to stay there for an entire day, as he wrung pleasure from her like nothing she'd ever experienced before.
But when Monday morning came, the stark reality of her departure hit her like a ton of bricks. She hadn't stopped to think about what she was doing with Arda, or where it was headed. She'd just dove in head first. Would they just be a fling? Her nose scrunched in thought, and his hand cupped her face, his thumb moving in slowly comforting motions over her cheek.
"You'll text me?" He searched her eyes. As far as she could tell, he was genuine about wanting to talk to her and see her whenever they could. But she knew how hard long distance could be. Especially for someone like him, who had such a busy schedule and had hoards of women lining up to date him. Women that would be here, in Turkey.
She gave him a sad smile. "Of course. And you'll text me?"
"Every day." The look he gave her was one of pure determination, as if he wanted to convey that he meant it. That he would make this work.
Her taxi driver looked at her impatiently from where he'd been parked for the last five minutes, watching them say their goodbyes.
She leaned in to give him a small kiss, but he grabbed her face, deepening the kiss, until they were full on making out. She pulled away, her mind reeling from the sensation of his claiming of her mouth.
"I will see you soon, Mikaela." They hugged one last time, and she squeezed tighter than before, closing her eyes, inhaling his comforting scent.
"Bye, Arda." She said into his chest.
He waved to her as the taxi pulled out of the hotel drive. Her eyes stayed glued to him until the very last moment, until he disappeared from her sight.
