Walking out of the car Sam felt the heat of Albuquerque waft over her, dressed in a suit and tie wasn't the most ideal. The only real reason she wore it is so she can keep her gun holster on her.
The air conditioning in contrast to the heat was bizarre to her, a small amount of perspiration dripped down her face and she quickly wiped it off.
"Hi may I take your order ma'am?" The polite woman at the register asked. Sam smiled softly at the woman.
"Actually I'm looking for the owner, I'm here for a job and was told I could find him here." She said sweetly, the woman nodded.
"Oh of course! I'll go get him, but how did you kno-?"
She was cut off by a a man wearing a clip on tie and yellow collared shirt.
"I'll take it from here,Daisy. Thanks." The man spoke smoothly as he crossed the counter and smiled at her.
"You're Sam,I presume? I've looked at your resume and I have to say, well done." The man smiled, shaking Sam's hand.
Sam smiled back sweetly, her grin was a little off-putting however since the large knick in her ear missing made it awkward. She looked like she was into some dirty business.
"I assume you know who I am?" He stood up straight, they were almost the same height.
Sam nodded "Gus Fring, who could guess? Now you said you had a job for me?" She said with a slight rush.
Gus nodded once.
Sam did aswell.
"Now I should mention this, because I didn't put it on my resume but... I used to work at the casino, like the big one." She said with a whisper to Gus.
Gus looked like he was questioning something. "Why not? That is a pretty big gig, what did you do at the casino?"
Sam smiled "I was uh... Second in command. I worked under the boss."
Gus looked a little confused, he made a small face at her. "Why did you stop? Were you fired or did something happen?"
Sam shrugged "I had enough of working for my sister, who just happened to be my boss. I read up on it and apparently you were a pretty good idea."
Gus looked surprised "well nevertheless, come into my office won't you?" He stepped back to allow her past the counter.
Sam walked briskly pass him and pushed through the swinging doors, down the hall and into his office. She looked over a photo on the wall, it was of Gus and another man,They both seemed happy.
"I like to always consider the business factor of a person, I always meet with my new hires." Gus' voice cut through her thoughts.
She quickly turned and sat down across from Gus, who was looking something up on his computer. He smiled at her.
"So it says here your sister is Margaret R. Cedar. Owner and manager of the casino. Huh." Gus looked more intensely at the screen.
This caught Sam's attention "what, does it say anything about me?"
Gus shook his head "it's like your a ghost. I don't see anything here."
"Safe to say the same about you Gus." She smiled.
Gus turned to her with the same intensity "I beg your pardon?"
Sam shrugged and leaned back on the chair when all of a sudden an older man walked in. "Hey boss." he seemed to be surprised at seeing Sam.
She smiled at him "I'm Sam Cedar. Pleasure to make your acquaintance." The words were quick as she stood up and shook his hand.
Then she knew she could say it without being killed right here right now, she quickly looked over at Gus.
"Is your empire the only thing you have, because if you have a higher paying job I'd love to see whats in store." She quipped, now she wasn't even 100% sure that this was true but she went for it.
"What?"
"You heard me. I've done enough research to know about the whole, drug empire thing. But I'm no rat, I'm just plain bored. Kill me now and I can assure you that there will be people coming to get me."
She knew it was abrupt to say but she was a very impatient person.
The expression that Gus had let her know she was right about the whole thing. "Well" His voice had a small change, like he meant business.
"I see you are determined... But what exactly do you think you'd be doing, set aside the guns under your jacket." Sam sighed and slumped her shoulders.
"You caught me, I have guns but it's only for my protection." The man behind her sighed.
"I don't know who you think you are little missy but you wandered into the wrong dark alleyway." He sounded exhausted.
"Mike, leave her be. I do see some potential in her, better yet she may actually be of use." Gus fixed the wrinkles on his shirt and placed his arms on his desk, his eyes planted firmly on Sam.
"Oh and just so you know, nothing I would do is personal. Just business like it's supposed to be." Sam smiled once more, her ideas running about her head.
Mike sighed and sat down where Sam had been sitting. Sam took this as a invitation to leave.
"I guess that's all, I should escort myself out now. If you need me you have my number and email. Thanks for your time Gus."
Gus didn't say another word as she left, leaving Gus and Mike alone.
****
"Well? Do you want me to follow her? I can always find out what she's doing, if she'll tell anyone." Mike rubbed his face.
Gus was organizing things in his head "you may, just be cautious. I do have a bad feeling about her and her connections. Be wary."
Mike nodded and proceeded to stand up, fixing his pants.
"I'll uh call you when I find out where exactly she'll be. If it's anything bad at all, do you want me to make the decision?"
Gus looked up at Mike "if it comes to it, I want you to call me. Understand?"
Mike stared at Gus "what do you think? I'm going boss." Mike took his leave, walking out of the office and closing the door.
Gus was alone now, he was still fairly busy. How could someone like that find him? Did she know someone? Maybe she just guessed.
He pulled up his cameras and watched as Mike followed Sam out of the parking lot. If in fact she wasn't lying he wouldn't be able to kill her. That casino came with a lot of bad ideas. The mob for instance could be involved or the cartel. Whoever she was, this better be a good idea.
