Chapter 2

2x02 and 2x03: 7.1 and Help is not coming

Verónica could think of a million other things she would rather do this morning, a car chase is not one of them. The suspect, whose name was Marvin was cornered, "C'mon Marvin how many times have we been in this situation, just come with me" Verónica told the young boy, Marvin made eye contact with the female officer and bolted. "Damn it Marvin" Verónica muttered as she took off behind him, suddenly met with flying objects that the wonderful suspect decided to throw.

The suspect managed to get away, "727-L-30, we need to go pick up our friend Marvin" Verónica said through the radio, "Copy that Officer Martinez, how about we go for a little ride"

Athena and Verónica were stationed in front of Marvin's house waiting for him to appear, "Where are you planning on running, Marvin? This is your house" Athena questioned the red-headed boy. Verónica crossed her arms, "The little track star, I almost had you on foot this time" Veró jokingly said

"Yeah, you did" the redheaded boy replied "Sorry about throwing that stuff at you", the younger officer shook her head "Don't worry about that, it was scratch". The older cop looked at her, much over the playful banter between the two. "Are you done, Officer Martinez?"

Verónica shook her "Yes ma'am". Athena began to take out her handcuffs "If you plan to keep stealing cars, you might want to consider a less memorable hair color." The older cop and the young criminal walk toward each other, Verónica stays back leaning against her patrol car arms crossed. "When I hear a felonious act, the suspect matches your description I know where to find you," Athena says, grabbing Marvin's wrist to put on the handcuffs.

"This is the third time I've had to arrest you this year" Athena continues putting the cuffs on the young criminal.

The young boy looks back at her, "The hair is my signature" he says back to her, "All master criminals have one" "Yeah all stupid ones," Athena says back to him, "I'm just getting all my stealing done before I turn eighteen," He says, as Athena leads him to her patrol car, "I'm joyriding, which is like borrowing the car without asking, the only thing I steal without asking is gas if you think about it," Marvin says getting into the back of her patrol car.

Verónica walks over to the cop and the young boy, "Well you're not going to juvie court this time, Marvin" Verónica says with a straight face to the boy. "You ran from the police, you made it serious, kid," she adds. Athena shuts the door, "Where are you going, Ronnie?" Athena asks her, "Got radioed for a runaway foster in the area gonna check it out," Verónica says getting into her patrol car.

Before getting in she tells Athena, "Momma Thena be safe today", Athena looks at the girl and smiles "I always am, you be safe too" she replies.

Verónica starts patrolling the area for the runaway foster child, Elizabeth Ramiro. Elizabeth Ramiro is described as 14 turning 15, a Latina with dark brown hair and dark eyes. Verónica drove and patrolled the area she was said to be seen at last, when she spotted her in an alleyway.

Stationing her patrol car she gets out slowly, walking closer to where the young girl was. "Elizabeth, LAPD, Officer Martinez" she announces getting closer to the girl. As she got closer, she looked at the young girl's face and saw her red puffy eyes, "Hey, are you ok?" she gently asked squatting in front of the sitting girl. "I'm fine" Elizabeth snaps at the young officer, "and it's Lizzy". Verónica studies the girl's face, scans her body, and notices some bruises, "You sure?" she questions further. "Yes fine" Lizzy snaps again. All of sudden the ground starts to shake, "What's going on" Lizzy asks

"Earthquake" Verónica responds, "Just stay calm and stay put there's nothing here that can fall over and harm us" She grabs onto the girl, so Lizzy won't fall over or get injured.
