What went wrong?

You're not supposed to feel bad for something you know is bound to break someday, sometimes things happen in life that are set in stone for you. Maybe it was never meant to be in the first place.

Alhaitham couldn't blame himself too much, he tried to save Kaveh from falling into that deep hole of anguish, but he couldn't even hold him long enough only for him to slip away from his hands. It felt like they both have changed.

It wasn't like before.

Though they see each other regularly at the college dorms, though they were roommates, it's never the same.

It's not like when they were teenagers, when they were students, studying together to become scholars, but what went wrong that day?

What went wrong to the point where it pushed Kaveh into his wrong senses about himself. What pushed him into believing that everything happening in his life was his fault alone? What made his mind form into thinking that the accident was his fault?

Alhaitham had tried reaching for Kaveh, to try and pull him away from the struggles that he tried to bury by overworking himself with work and architecture. Within every building he designed and sketched, Alhaitham knew he'd put all of his blood into one work that he could only hope to be his source of self worth.

What used to be a hobby, turned to be the main reason why Kaveh barely spoke to Alhaitham properly.

With every argument they had, Alhaitham could almost see the pain in Kaveh's eyes when he blurted out damaging words, but he also never minded any of it, because he believed it's his punishment for being himself.

Alhaitham could hear faint breathing coming from the other side of the room. His eyes softened as he placed down his book, and stood up to go to Kaveh's room. There, he twisted the door knob and pushed the door open, to see his roommate, on his study table, passed out from all the work he's been doing, some sheets of papers stuck to his face while some were on the floor, crumbled or torn apart.

It pained him to know that it would take years before he could reach Kaveh, he wondered if he could even begin approaching Kaveh without starting an argument.

"Look at you." He murmured, walking over to the blond man, taking the small bits of paper sticking on his skin. "How do you live like this?" Alhaitham sighed, his fingers moving over Kaveh's hair to tug it behind his ear. He looked pretty, but Alhaitham couldn't find the courage to say anything like that, in front of Kaveh? Someone he's been trying to help for years..?

"I'm sorry I couldn't reach you in time." Alhaitham apologized, his eyes trailing over to the sketches Kaveh had made. They were beautiful, the designs and the idea alone was. "If I had reached you in time that day.. Would it have made a difference, Kaveh?"

Of course, Alhaitham knew there would've been a difference, maybe he and Kaveh wouldn't have argued as much if he could've saved Kaveh that day, the day everything changed, the day Kaveh changed. Maybe then, he would've been a proud architect, a proud and lovely architect.

He knew that sooner or later, he would need to play his part, and fix Kaveh back to his old self. But as of now, he could only show his devotion to Kaveh in silence.

He slipped over a blanket over Kaveh's shoulders, taking off his red hair clips and putting them aside for him. "Goodnight, Kaveh."

"Alhaitham!" Kaveh walked over to his roommate, his face all red but he didn't look too happy. "What's gotten you reddened up?" Alhaitham raised an eyebrow, his eyes averting away from the book he was reading to Kaveh, who was holding a single rose flower in his hand with a pretty flushed face.

"D-did you leave this on my desk?!" He lifted his hand that was holding the rose, only receiving a hum from Alhaitham. "And what of it?"

"Aren't you gonna explain yourself?!" The blond man exclaimed, despite showing his 'anger', he never threw away the flower that Alhaitham left on his desk. That was enough evidence for Alhaitham to understand that Kaveh didn't hate his gift after all. "No, I don't think I will." He murmured, looking back down at his book.

Kaveh opened his mouth to speak, but hesitated. He stared at the gray haired man in front of him, his eyes looked beautiful and he found himself lost in it again. However, it didn't take long for him to snap out of his act.

"Why?" He asked. "Hm?"

"Why would you do this? I'm not worth your precious little time." Kaveh murmured, crossing his arms, his words coming off as more sassy than he had expected. That of course didn't phase Alhaitham, he knew his Kaveh well.

"Are you saying you'd prefer me to leave you sleeping in the cold? I'd be more than glad to."

"You.. Ugh.."

Kaveh covered his face with his hand, you could see the contrast between his pale hand and his red face, it tugged a small smirk at the corners of Alhaitham's lips.

"There's a new restaurant that opened downtown, perhaps we could use breakfast there no?"

"Huh? Why are you inviting to breakfast all of the sudden?" The blond man asked, frowning at his roommate out of suspicion. "Could I not? You look like you need about two dose of coffee to get through the morning." Alhaitham responded as he stood up and placed the book down on the coffee table.

"Fair enough." Kaveh groaned. "Hm, best you wear something nice."

"Why?" Kaveh crossed his arms.

Alhaitham only got closer to Kaveh until he was close enough to touch Kaveh's face. The blond man's face instantly heated up, seeing his roommate up so close, he never realized how much Alhaitham worked out, why did he work out again..??

Before Kaveh could say anything else, he felt the gray haired man's hand brush a few strings of his blond hair out of his vision and tugged it behind his ear. He could feel the colors burning on his cheeks at this point..

"So you'd not embarrass yourself in front of others." Alhaitham blurted out, before walking past Kaveh, like nothing had happened. They both knew for a fact that something did happen.

Kaveh covered his mouth with his hand, his eyes widening as he felt the rush in his blood. "W-WHY DID YOU DO THAT FOR?!" He exclaimed, looking back to see Alhaitham waving his hand away so casually.

"ALHAITHAM!!"

"Get ready Kaveh."
