A few months had passed, actually Kyle didn't know how long it had been since the apocalypse started.

A year? A few months?

When it started, Kyle made sure to keep Ike with him, Kenny got a hold of him and Wendy. We were all in a tree house together, including Karen. The tree house was the safest option thanks to all the food and supplies.

Secretly behind Kyle's back, Kenny was bit, many times actually, but it had been months since that happened, and Kenny was still fine, I guess...

His hunger for food lessened every day. It was like his stomach wasn't even there at certain times. He didn't want to bite anyone or eat them. He just didn't want to eat at all.

He would have terrible nightmares at night. Thinking sooner or later, he would transform and eat everything there. Especially Karen, especially Kyle.

He enjoyed Kyle's presence and enjoyed his optimism, even at dark times. Sometimes, I would catch him staring out the window. When I would look, he would be staring at the zombies who resembled Stan. God, he missed Stan. It was dread. He even thought one of them was Stan.

Kyles curly red hair grew over the years and made his look better then when he was a kid, Don't get me wrong, even as a kid he had his own unique style but nowadays his style is keeping Kenny from falling and breaking down.

Kyle would stay up and keep watch. He would switch between Kenny so that he could actually sleep. Kenny would murmur in his sleep and shift a lot.

Kyle frowned. What's going on with him? He wished he knew so he could help.

In Kenny's sleep, there were images of him gripping a person's arm off and viciously ripping a person to shreds. That not what he wanted. He wanted to be normal.

What if that person was Karen?

A casual sweat ran down his forehead as he flinched and woke up. Breathing heavily.

Kyle's frown would deepen. He hated seeing him like this. Kenny was so scared that he just decided to stand up and sit next to Kyle.  "Nightmare?" He nodded, confirming Kyle's suspicion.

"Mind telling me why?" Kenny's breath hitched.

"Only if you promise not to tell anyone..."

Kyle leaned forward, eager to hear Kenny's troubles. "It's...a.....a few months ago, I got....bit..." Kenny showed him his hand, the only Kenny's been covering up.

"Wait a few months... you would've turned by now???"

"That's the thing, usually people turn after a few minutes, so I guess I'm safe...?"

Kyle was sceptical, but he didn't want his friend to think he didn't care for him. He cared with every vessel of his body. "Kyle?"

"Mhmm?" He nodded

"Promise me...promise me if I do turn, that you'll be here with me, even just for a few minutes, I just don't want my last few hours to be all terror.." Kyle slowly gripped Kenny's hand.

"I promise, heck, I'll step even further and say, if you turn, I turn.." Kenny's eyes widened, and he shook his head.

"No, Kyle, I can't let that happen. you're too important to me.." Kyle's eyes soften at his words.

"The last thing I want is to survive the world without you...if you're gonna die, then I die with you." Kenny felt guilty. Kyle pulled him in for a tight hug.

"Just remember that Ike and Karen need a safe place. We need them away from us. If your turn.." Kenny gripped Kyle's shirt as their hug continued. Finding warmth in each other's existence. Then suddenly there was a loud beep from the radio, a voice.

"Hello? Hello, is anyone there? I'm from the military, and we are looking for survivors?" Kyle quickly walked over and talked into the radio,

"Yes, we're alive. Can you hear me?"

"Yes, yes, we can hear you. State your location, and we'll be there as soon as possible."

"South park, we're in a treehouse in a very broken down yard." The man on the other end breathe in.

"That's gonna take a few hours. Are you in a safe place?"

"Yes."

"Good, stay there tightly and well try to get there as fast as possible." Then the radio went still. My mind was racing. We were gonna be safe. We're gonna be safe!

Kyle basically ran over to the sleepy Wendy, who was woken up by the loud voice. "Wendy, we need to pack shit up. This might be our chance!"
Wendy groaned. "Kyle, I swear to God, it's too early for this." She wasn't wrong, Kyle was basically screaming in her face.

"Heh, sorry.." She glared at him and slowly sat up, "We do have to get our asses ready for them to come. Let's just start packing, just in case.." Wendy stated, and we both nodded.

Soon, the sun started rising, and so did the two young teens. They helped eachother to pack, and now we were waiting. In the distance, I could hear a helicopter fly. "Guys, their here!" I pointed out the window. "Alright, remember our plan, Kyle will go first to make sure our coast is clear. Then Kenny, then I will come with these two rascals." I nod, a little scared from this plan, but I was determined to keep Ike safe.

My hands grip on my bat.

We climbed down the treehouse and tried to be as quiet as possible until kenny stated, feeling droopy. Karen and Ike were already climbing up the later that the helicopterlet down for us to climb. Kyle turned around and looked at kenny, who had a twitchy look to him

Kenny's legs began to feel weak, and he began to stumble. He tried to keep his footing but was failing. He looked at Kyle a bit panicked as his legs buckled, and he fell to his knees

Wendy looked at Kyle concerned, and Kyle told Wendy to go already.

Kyle tried to help Kenny up, but Kenny just growled at him and tried to bite

Kenny's eyes had completely glazed over. He had a wild look in his eyes, and he let out a low animalistic growl as Kyle tried to help him up, and he attempted to bite him

Kenny didn't seem to recognize Kyle at this point. His mind was completely clouded by the overwhelming urge to feed. He continued to try and bite at Kyle's arm, making another low animalistic growl

Wendy told Kyle to hurry, but Kyle knew this had to be done. "Go without me and take care of Karen and Ike for us!"

Kyle gulped, and now he was stuck with a feral beast that is his friend. Kenny viciously jumped Kyle to the floor, wanting to eat him so desperately. "Kenny, please....it's me!" Kenny didn't think in that moment. The real Kenny was still in there, but this virus was getting the better of him...

Kyle felt something on his arm, and a sharp pain left his body.

Kenny had bit him.

Kyle pushed him off and walked backward into a wall.

He slowly slipped down. Kenny got up on his feet and ran over to Kyle ferally.

Kyle decided it was it. He held Kenny close in an embrace with tears leaving his eyes.

"I promised, I promised."

Kenny was trying to get out of his grip, and Kyle started crying black liquid....

"I promised....I.....p-promised....."
