Draco hadn't slept properly all night. If he did fall asleep occasionally, he kept waking up soon after. He couldn't shake the thought that Harry was having a nightmare. When Harry woke up, Draco had only been asleep for an hour, and that was the longest he had slept all night. So he hadn't woken up when he should have.

Harry didn't know what was going on, but he moved as quietly as he could to give Draco a little more time to sleep. When he had finished getting ready, he looked at Draco uncertainly. He hadn't seen him wake up so late since school had started. He knew it wasn't normal and thought Draco must be ill. Finally deciding to leave him alone, he headed for the door. However, it only took a few seconds for his decision to change.

He turned where he was, towards Draco. "Malfoy," he called. Draco opened his eyes faster than he had expected, causing Harry to gasp in surprise. How could his sleep be so light?

"Potter?" Draco asked, half-opening his eyes at him.

"You'll be late for breakfast," Harry said.

Draco closed his eyes and buried his face in his pillow. He stayed like that for a few seconds, then rolled onto his back. "I'm not going down for breakfast," he muttered.

"Class?"

"I'm coming to class."

"All right," Harry said. "I'll be off then."

"Uh-huh." After a grunt of confirmation, he went back to sleep. He felt he could sleep all day.

Harry left the room without another word. He found himself staring at the Slytherin table during breakfast, even though he knew Draco wasn't there. He wondered if he should try and talk to him again after class. He wondered if Draco had a problem. Even if he did, Harry didn't think Draco would tell him, but he wanted to try his luck. He decided to think about this later and left the Great Hall with his friends to go to class. As they entered the corridor where the class was, he slowed his steps and stayed behind his friends when he saw Draco coming from the other side of the corridor. Draco's eyes were closing even as he walked. He looked like he was going to faint at any moment, and that worried Harry in a way he couldn't understand.

Everyone else had entered the classroom first, and only the two of them were left behind. But Draco hadn't even noticed Harry as he hadn't looked up the whole time he was walking. As he was about to enter the classroom, Harry grabbed his arm and stopped him.

"Potter," Draco said as he turned his head to look at him with questioning eyes.

"Malfoy," Harry said as he handed something to Draco. Then, without a word, he entered the classroom.

Draco looked after him, then focused on what Harry had handed him. He had to unwrap the napkins to see what it was. When he opened the carefully wrapped napkins, he found two pieces of toast, still warm.

Harry hurriedly settled into his seat, glancing toward the door. He felt an inexplicable sense of relief when he saw Draco biting into the toast as he entered the classroom with a smile on his face. He didn't even know why he'd brought him toast in the first place, but he just wanted to. Besides, Draco had been helping him lately. The hints he'd written in the book, bringing him the book he'd forgotten... Harry could do this for him, at least.

Draco was in a good mood as he sat down. He had even forgotten about his lack of sleep. Now he could easily make it through the whole day.

"Ah, there's my hero!" Pansy suddenly reached for Draco's hand, or rather the toast, and Draco pulled it away.

"What are you doing?" he asked in surprise.

"I couldn't wake up for breakfast, I'm so hungry," Pansy said. "But my one and only hero will save me the trouble." Grinning, she reached for the toast again. But Draco moved the toast away again.
