Nayeon's heart raced as she led the rest of the group into a private room, her mind spinning with confusion and anger. The cool air of the room did little to soothe the heat building in her chest. She slammed the door shut behind her, the sound echoing off the walls.
"Alright, someone start talking!" Nayeon's eyes darted around the room, landing on each face in turn. "What the HELL just happened out there?"
The other members shifted uncomfortably. Sana opened her mouth to speak, but Nayeon cut her off. "Don't tell me not to worry! How can I not worry when Jeongyeon acted like she's never seen me before? We've been through so much together back then. HOW COULD SHE JUST FORGET ME LIKE THAT?"
Sana looked pained but tried to calm her down. "Nayeon, please, it's not as bad as it seems. There might be—"
"Not as bad as it seems? Sana, you're not helping!" Nayeon's voice rose with each word. She paced back and forth, her hands gesticulating wildly. "I saw Jeongyeon's face! She looked at me like she was meeting a stranger.I NEED ANSWERS!"
Mina, trying to ease the tension, stepped forward. "Nayeon, we understand you're upset. But shouting isn't going to help. Maybe if you just—"
"NO! I want to know what's going on right now!" Nayeon snapped. Her eyes were like it was on fire, filled with frustration. "I've been waiting for this moment for so long, and now everything feels like a lie. Someone better tell me what's happening or I swear—"
Momo took a deep breath, her voice barely above a whisper. "Nayeon, p- please, we're trying to figure things out too. It's complicated."
"Complicated? How is this complicated? She's supposed to remember me! If there's something going on, I need to know. I have a right to know!" Nayeon's heart pounded as she tried to make sense of the chaos. Her mind replayed the moment with Jeongyeon over and over again, searching for answers.
No one spoke, leaving Nayeon standing there, her frustration boiling over. She felt like she was losing control of everything she had hoped for, and it was all crumbling right before her eyes.
Everyone looked around, unsure of how to handle the situation, until Chaeyoung, stood up with a trembling voice.
"STOP IT, NAYEON!" Chaeyoung shouted, breaking through Nayeon's ranting. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she glared at Nayeon, her emotions raw and unfiltered. "Just STOP! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED AFTER YOU LEFT."
Nayeon's eyes wide with surprise, she wasn't expecting the smol bean to start yelling at her. "What are you—"
Chaeyoung cut her off, her voice breaking. "Jeongyeon lost her memory! After you left two years ago, Jeongyeon got hurt and her memory was affected. She doesn't remember anything from before that time, including you. Do you have any idea how much pain that's caused her? And us?" Chaeyoung's words came out in a rush.
Nayeon stood there, stunned into silence. Her mouth opened and closed, trying to process the shock of the sudden news. Her mind raced, trying to fit this new piece of information into the puzzle she had been struggling with.
Chaeyoung took a shaky breath, her anger giving way to sadness. "We.... we didn't want to tell you like this, but you needed to know. It's not just about you or what you think. Jeongyeon's been struggling, trying to piece her life back together. We've been trying to help her, trying to get her through this, and all you've been doing is blaming us."
The room remained still, the gravity of Chaeyoung's words settling in. Nayeon's expression softened, her eyes filling with tears. She looked around at the faces of her friends, seeing their pain and understanding their silence. She had been so caught up in her own hurt and confusion that she hadn't considered what they, and Jeongyeon had been going through.
"I'm... I'm so sorry," Nayeon finally whispered, her voice trembling. "I had no idea. I thought... I thought she was just angry or fooling with me." Chaeyoung nodded, wiping her tears with the back of her hand.
Jihyo stepped closer to her, her eyes pleading and full of concern. "Nayeon, please, you can't mention anything about your guys past. About your childhood, about the time you two spent together. It's too painful for Jeongyeon right now. We have to protect her."
Nayeon opened her mouth, her throat tight, but no words came out. She wanted to scream, to let out all the frustration and sadness she felt. How could she pretend like everything was okay when her heart was breaking? But looking into Jihyo's eyes, she saw the desperation there.
Tears welled up in Nayeon's eyes, blurring her vision. She tried to hold them back, but they started to fall. Her shoulders shook with silent sobs as she tried to keep herself composed. The weight of the thought of pretending to be a stranger to someone she once loved deeply was crushing.
Jihyo reached out, gently wrapping her arms around Nayeon. "It's okay," she said softly, her voice breaking. "We're all here for you. We'll get through this together."
One by one, the others began to gather around Nayeon. Sana, who had been standing nearby, moved in to join the group hug. Dahyun and Tzuyu returned to the room, their faces reflecting confusion at first. But as they saw Nayeon's tears and the group hug in progress, they understood what was happening. Without a word, they stepped forward and joined the embrace, their arms wrapping around Nayeon.
As the minutes passed, the tears began to settle, though Nayeon's breathing was still uneven. She felt the strength of her friends surrounding her. "o- okay guys... I will try not to mention anything about my past to Jeongyeon."She said to all of her friends.
It wasn't going to be easy, but she had a support system that would help her through this challenging time.
After the group hug, Chaeyoung's phone rang. She picked it up, her face lighting up when she saw who was calling.
"It's Jeongyeon!" Chaeyoung announced, answering the call. She spoke for a moment, and then her eyes widened with excitement. "Jeongyeon's ready! Let's go!"
The group then followed Chaeyoung out of the room. The hallways seemed to stretch out forever as they walked quickly, their steps echoing with the sound of their excitement.
As they reached the room where Jeongyeon was waiting, Chaeyoung opened the door, and there stood Jeongyeon in a stunning dress. The fabric shimmered softly, hugging her figure perfectly. Her hair was styled elegantly, and her makeup was flawless.
Nayeon's eyes widened once she saw Jeongyeon, and she couldn't help but let out a soft gasp. Jeongyeon's beauty was breathtaking. Nayeon's heart skipped a beat, she looked around at the others, who were also struck by Jeongyeon's appearance. They all murmured in agreement, clearly impressed.
"Why am I feeling like this?" She thought to herself.
"This isn't right, she's my ex. But... But I can't help but notice how breathtaking she still is, even if she's no longer mine."
Jeongyeon smiled warmly, clearly enjoying the effect she was having. "H- how do I look?" she asked shyly.
"You look incredible!" Sana exclaimed, her eyes wide with delight. "Seriously, you're glowing!"
Everyone chimed in with their compliments, and Jeongyeon's smile grew even wider. The room was filled with genuine admiration and joy. Especially for Sana, her excitement was contagious as she couldn't stop smiling.
