Rosetta:

I woke up relatively early that Friday morning. Something felt different about it. I felt a rush if energy for some odd reason. I checked my alarm. I had 25minutes left of sleep. So i had simply decided to use the extra time to get my lunch ready, I usually woukd have to make it in a rush before heading to school, sometimes not having time to even make it.

A groan escapes my mouth, i stretchlike a baby being freed from it's sleeping bag. Staggering toward the bathroom, having still not adjusted to being i awake. I internally smilr as i realise I have the bathroom all to mysekf due to my early awakening.

I skip toward the bathroom, as steadily as possible, turning on the lights. I yawn as i reach for my toothbrush, lathering toothpaste on the instrument, soon brushing my teeth.

I turn on the geyser, i decide it would be best ti make my lunch since it would take, hopefully, less than 20minutes to prepare. I head toward the kitchen, switching on the kitchen lights. I open the fridge scanning for what would peak my interest.
...

About 5minutes before school is in session, i get a call from my mom.

"Mbali sweety, you need to come back home as soon as you complete your exam paper today. I have already informed your principle of the matter." She says, i can clearly sense she's trying to remain calm.

A/N: Mbali means 'flower'... this 'new name' will be explained in later chapters. I made no mistake babies. .

"Mama, what's wrong.? Awungomntu ofane athethe emnxebeni, kwenzeka ntoni.?" I ask frantically.
(Mom what's wrong.? You're not the type of person to make phone calls, what going on.?)

"Mbali, sizothetha ubuya kwakho eskolweni." She says, not answering my question in the slightest.
(Mabli, we will talk when you get back from school.)

"Mama?" I call out to her trying to get her to listen to me.
(Mom?)

"Mbali, ndithethile. Ndiyakucela mntanam. Ubhale kakuhle, ndizoza uzokulanda. Ndizokuxelela yonke intoh xa sidhibene. Bye mntanam." She says, completely throwing me off.
(Mbali, i have spoken. Please. Write well, i will come fetch you. I'll tell you everything once we're together. Bye my baby. )

"Bye mama, enkosi. Ubeno suku oluhle." I say, sighing as she drops the call.
(Bye mom, thanks. Have a lovely day.)

I stand in the middle of the corridor still confused about the tone my mom was concealing during the call. I was a little bummed that i couldn't hang out with my friends after we complete today's exam, seeing that they are in different classes than mine.

I start heading to class. The teacher greets all the students, telling us the rules- as she does every single morning before we write exams- of the examroom. She issues us with letters printed by the school. Urgg, there's constantly unnecessary announcements at this school.

I fold the letter completely uninterested in it's contents. She tells us we have 20mintes before exams are in session. As all the students panick and hurredly try to get as much information as they can before they write, i simply revise on a few notes i had made while studying.

Who even stresses about History.? Not to sound...i don't even know... but, History is easy.
...

Soon enough i am headed out of the classroom as the other students continue to stare as their exam question papers trying to recall information they barely absorbed.

I finished early, as i had assumed i would. Well...ones that gave up on the paper were first to finish, in record time, Rick, the class clown, finishing 5minutes into the exam session. He is now fast asleep on his desk, dreaming of G-d knows what filth.
