Chapter 8: Night Patrol And Lost Child

(Y/N)'s POV

I had woken up from my little nap with Sun and Moon, and as much as I hated to leave them, my duties as a Security Bot required me to do nightly patrols from time to time. I had told Moon about it, and he offered to accompany me, but I told him I'd be fine.

"Are you sure you'll be alright going alone Starlight?" he asked as I was getting ready to head out.

"I've done this before Moony, and I've come back unscathed everytime. Trust me, I'll be back soon," I replied back. Moon still looked skeptical, as he had wrapped his arms around my metallic waist.

"I do trust you Starlight, it's just...with how some of the Employees treat us, if they did that to you while on patrol, and I wasn't there...I don't know if I'd be able to forgive myself," the Nighttime Attendant rambled, burying his faceplate into my chest.

"It'll be okay my Moonlight,"~ I whispered to him, and I heard him purr at the sound of his nickname. After giving Moon a kiss on the cheek, I quietly left the Daycare and mounted my wire so I could patrol from above.

Timeskip To When You Finish Patrolling

Well, things seem to be okay. I thought to myself. I was currently in the Kitchen, and right as I was about to head back to the Daycare, I suddenly heard the sound of someone crying. Scanning the area, I felt my Daycare Attendant duties kick in.

"There's no need to cry, I'm a friend," I called out softly to the darkness. The crying turned into sniffles, and I made my way towards the sound. When I found the source of the crying, I felt my circuits burning with rage. I had come across a young child that looked no older than two years old.

What sick human leaves a fucking Toddler of this age alone in a place like this?! I yelled internally. I noticed that the child was crying again, and I gently cradled them in my arms.

"Shhhh, don't cry little one, you're safe now," I cooed, and the child instantly settled down. Using the wire to float through the air, I carefully made my way back to the Daycare to surprise Sun and Moon.

Back In The Daycare

"Here we are little Comet. Welcome to the Superstar Daycare," I whispered, setting the Toddler down on the mat in front of me. Something inside of me made me feel devoted to this child, and I was going to protect them at all costs, even if it meant sacrificing myself.

"(Y/N)? Starlight, are you there?" Moon's voice called out, and I quietly made my way to him.

"I'm right here Moony, and I have a bit of a surprise for both you and Sun," I whispered, chuckling lightly at the way Moon's eyes lit up.

"Sun isn't normally awake at this hour, but I can sense that he wants to see the surprise," Moon informed me. I sent a message to Sun asking him to meet me and Moon in the middle of the Daycare, and he was in front of us in an instant.

"Are you two ready?" I asked them, and they both nodded. After asking them to close their eyes, I guided them over to the child.

"You two can open your eyes now," I said to them, and the moment they opened their eyes, they both were screaming internally.
