(Y/n) Akiyama was born in fall.
On the second day of the twelfth month, she opened her eyes to witness the world for the first time.
At that time, there was only her mother, father and herself in that small house, all living peaceful lives without many troubles.
Their family was known for being great hunters, due to their excellent eyesight that could perceive the slightest movement in a variable range.
They lived off of what nature procured them and didn't go down the mountain to the village very often. Only the father, Kosuke Akiyama, would descend the mountain every day to work at the local clinic.
Her mother, Izumi Akiyama, was once a Demon Slayer. She had been a powerful wind breathing user, but later on quit because of a certain incident in which her friends were murdered and devoured before her eyes by a demon.
One would think that she would come back stronger and filled with determination to avenge her diseased companions, but in reality, she completely shut out that part of her life and buried her sword under her house, in hopes of never having to use it again.
She spent a few years alone atop that mountain, until she met Kosuke and eventually had a child with him. They had a makeshift marriage in a clearing bathed in the light of the morning sun, surrounded by only trees and the blooming flowers of spring.
The couple believed that with their last name meaning autumn mountain, it would be good luck to give birth in fall, on top of a mountain. And so here she was, their beautiful daughter; born exactly under these conditions.
When (y/n) was 4, her little sister was born and was named Hisako by their mother, in hopes of her having a long, happy life.
The small family lived peacefully on the mountain, until one day, when the girls were 9 and 5, a tragedy occurred.
Because of the mother's refusal in teaching her swordsmanship to her daughters, they were helpless against the demon that had broken in to take shelter from the sun. It slaughtered the family, but failed to catch the eldest daughter, who had run outside from fear and desperation.
That simple act had unknowingly saved her life and prevented the demon from killing her until a Demon Slayer appeared to, in turn, slay it.
The man had white hair, but it wasn't due to old age. Actually, he was quite young, perhaps only 20 years old. He introduced himself as Riki, but refused to tell his surname, as he despised it with every fiber of his being.
Riki took in the now orphaned girl and taught her swordsmanship and his technique: shadow breathing.
In the span of three years, he trained her harshly until she could effortlessly slay a lower grade demon with a kill count of 5 humans.
At 12 years of age, she set off to mount Fujikanase: the mountain of Wisteria flowers and also the site of the final selection.
