Martha was the nanny assigned to Rubelia. Although it was only in name but still she ruled the tower like it's heiress. But little Mark was there to stand by her. He was the only one who didn't judge the book by their fancy cover. He looked after the stables and also looked after her like her own sister. Being the eldest in his family after his parents died, he was only left with their memories. He was in-charge of the house as the oldest, and scorned by his neighbours and friends. When he was totally looming in darkness, it was Rubelia's blooming smile that saved him. Her tiny little hands offering him white wild flowers and hugging him saying "it will be all right" shifted him from suicidal thoughts to responsibilities.
After knowing Rubelia's situation, Mark never pitied her. Her situation was linguistically related to his but she moved on with a bright smile on her face. Her age was too young for her to understand her father's unwavering hatred for her yet she never gave up. She stood tall and wide while suffocating her emotions within herself. It's not like she never understood empathy but acknowledging it would be a weakness and with how broken she already was;she started discarding her existence from her world; obeying each letter of her father like the perfect marionette she was expected to be just so that her mere existence is atleast acknowledged by her only family.
