November 20th, 1994.
It was only 4 days until the first Tri-Wizard task and excitement ran high throughout the castle; it was all everyone could talk about.
'So, how are you feeling about it all?' Katrina asked Harry as they sat in a secluded area of the library. Harry's hands were on the table and twisted in front of him. He had to think for a second.
'Fine, I guess.' He shrugged, looking at his friend as if to say otherwise.
'It's okay, yknow, to be scared. I would be.' She raised her eyebrows, telling the truth. She thought she would be hate to be in Harry's position. 'That's exactly why Em and I botched the twins aging potions the night they tried to enter their names. It's far too dangerous, even if you are of age.' She touched his shoulder gently and he smiled at her half-heartedly.
'It's not even that,' he says with a sigh 'It's more the fact that nobody believes me, not even Ron and i'm not even close to finding out who did it.' He was starting to get breathless and more riled up. Katrina squeezed his shoulder gently to bring him back.
'I believe you.' Her eyes were determined and she had a confident look, one that reassured Harry once more 'And i'm still looking for hints as to who did. We'll find out, I promise.' Harry took a breath as he was reminded that their was still somebody on his side.
Interrupted by a grating voice, both of them turned their heads to see Draco stood with a look of disgust.
'What are you doing with Potter, Katrina?' He spat, Crabbe and Goyle behind him like body guards.
'None of your business, prat.' Katrina rolled her eyes and tried to turn back to Harry to continue their conversation.
'Finally got yourself a boyfriend?' Draco and his henchmen started to laugh, thinking they were the funniest people alive. Katrina turned around slowly and stood, in a way that unnerved Draco slightly.
'Draco,' she began with a wicked sort of smile 'how about we tell your little friends about that one time you and Mother-'
'No!' his body seized up and his eyes were filled now with horror. 'No, we're just leaving.'
'That's what I thought.' She smiled sweetly at him and waved him off before sitting back down with Harry who was beaming up at her. It was like having his own secret weapon against Draco.
'What were you going to say?' He enquired, still amused. She leaned in to whisper.
'Well, last summer, before coming back to school, Draco had a terrible nightmare and he started running all around the manor in just his underwear.' She stifled a laugh 'Mother had to come and rock him back to sleep while he was half naked and crying.' They were both trying not to laugh too loud now in the library and were hushed by multiple students.
'Brilliant.' Harry grinned.
Meanwhile, in the upstairs of the Hufflepuff common room, Em was sitting on Cedric's bed, pulling her cloak back over her shoulders and brushing out her hair with her hands. All that Cedric could do was watch.
'Don't you have a lesson to be getting to?' She said to him, looking over she shoulder. He was led back on his bed, hands behind his head, wearing a cheeky grin.
'I do, but it's worth being a little bit late, don't you think?' He said as he sat up slowly, closing the gap between them. He kisses her once more as she continues to try and straighten herself out.
'Ced,' she began, still kissing him back with little effort to pull away 'I have to go.' She gave him a disciplining look but he knew she was still amused by his charm. 'Do I look okay?' She asked, still trying to make sure that each button was done up correctly.
