Sitting in my car, feeling sad, my thoughts kept repeating: How could they do this to me? They knew I never wanted to tie myself down in any kind of relationship, but still, they insisted. As an obedient daughter, or so I thought, I believed I was following their wishes, but they never really considered my feelings. Still, I am thankful for their love and support in helping me grow, though maybe I am not enough for them. These thoughts echoed in my mind. I am not ready; I can't do this. I can't marry anyone, especially without asking him if he's okay with the marriage.

Breaking my thoughts, I mumbled quite loudly, "What the hell? I can't even cry, or this makeup will be ruined." My friends, who were with me and worrying about me, started laughing loudly. I felt lucky to have them in my life; they are my stress relievers. One of them, the 'mother' of the group, spoke up, "Aww, my cutie, you've cried enough. Now it's time to shine and be loved by the man you deserve. He's really handsome. I still have a picture of him I can show you."

Another friend, the sassy and beautiful one who doesn't speak much but whose actions always speak louder, finally spoke in her annoyed voice, "Stop, Lily. Can't you see she's not happy? It's so sudden for her. I understand your excitement, Lily, but look at Ariah; not even a trace of happiness is seen on her face."

"And you, Ariah, we are still 30 minutes away from the destination, and you have time. I suggest you just run away." This was the nth time she had suggested that I should run away.

"Run away? In this dress?" I quipped, trying to inject some humor into the tension.

Lily chuckled, "Exactly! Just imagine the look on everyone's face. Plus, we'd have a great story to tell."

I sighed, feeling a bit lighter. Maybe I wasn't ready for this marriage, but at least I had friends who would make sure I faced it with a smile.

I turned to Nayl, "My babe, please don't worry about me. I have you guys with me, so I don't need to worry about anything." I was on the verge of tears, but my little Lilly would never let me cry. She spoke up, "Oh Lord! My beautiful girls, don't argue. Nayl, sweetheart, you know she will never go against her parents. And my beautiful bride, Ariah, just chill. Don't you dare ruin your makeup."

"Let's leave this conversation here and focus on the future," Lilly continued. "Who knows, Jesus might have written something exciting in your life."

Nayl chimed in, "Let's hope Bhagwan ji brings lots of happiness into your life."

I hummed and added, "Allah SWT always does good for me, which is why I agreed to marry."

We started reminiscing about the moments we spent together and how we met. Soon, our destination was in sight. Despite my faith that Allah had something great planned for me, I was nervous. What if all the curses come true? What if the man I'm going to marry loves someone else? These questions swirled in my mind.

My thoughts halted as the car stopped. We had reached our final destination, where a new journey of my life would start. I stepped out of the car, ready to embrace this new chapter. As I laid eyes on the grandeur of the luxurious wedding hall, I was completely awestruck. The hall was adorned with thousands of white roses, their sweet fragrance mixing with the cool evening air. Golden chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting a warm glow over the opulent decor. I let out a small, startled scream and turned to Lilly and Nayl in disbelief. "Are you both absolutely certain this is the right place?"

They exchanged amused glances. Lilly teasingly reminded me, "Don't forget, you're the business tycoon of this city." Nayl added with a mischievous grin, "Just a gentle reminder to the soon-to-be Mrs. Khan, your man practically owns half the city." Given his status, it was only expected that he'd spare no expense for this wedding.

We were about to enter the venue when Lilly suddenly screamed, "Wait, Ariah! Please show us your face once, at least for a minute. I promise I won't click any pictures." I looked at Nayl with pleading eyes, but she countered with her puppy eyes. I sighed, "I told you guys, it's our tradition. I can't show you my face until the completion of the nikah, and you know that. The groom will be the first person to see the bride."

They let out frustrated sighs. Nayl said, "It's too romantic, but we still wanted to see you first. I literally love you more when you do this makeup."

Lilly cut in, "She's looking stunning with only her eyes on display. Her eye makeup-uff, it's killing me. Best of luck to our soon-to-be brother-in-law."

As we diverted our eyes toward the entrance, we noticed three little kids playing around the corridor. They came running toward us, screaming, "Mumma Anas, you are here!"

One of them pouted and said, "You took a long time to come here." The second girl spoke, "Calm down, Bini. You know today is Ana's wedding." The third one came up to me and told me to lean down. As I leaned down, she kissed me on the cheek through the veil and said, "Annu, love you. You are looking beautiful. Hayee, nazar na lag jai (stay safe from the evil eye)."

We all laughed, including the little ones, dramatically lightening the moment.
