Zed held Addison's hands as he slowly brought her up a hill. She was blindfolded. "Zed, where are you taking me?" Addison giggled as her boyfriend carefully guided her moving everything out her way. It was their senior year, and the Aliens were settling into Seabrook.
During that time, Addison and Zed never really spent time together and it was driving them crazy. Zed stopped Addison in her spot and slowly took off the blindfold.
Addison blinked a few times, adjusting to the moonlight. As the blindfold slipped away, she found herself standing at the crest of the hill overlooking Seabrook, the quaint town they both grew up in. The view was breathtaking, with the town lights shined out to the horizon and the town nestled below them.
"Zed, this is incredible!" Addison exclaimed, turning to face him with a wide smile.
Zed grinned back, a mix of excitement and nervousness in his eyes. "I thought we could use some time alone, away from all the chaos," he said softly, his voice filled with warmth.
Addison stepped closer to him, feeling the warmth of his hand in hers. "Thank you, Zed. This means so much to me."
They stood there for a moment, soaking in the serenity of the scene around them. It had been a hectic year with the arrival of the aliens and all the changes it brought to their lives. Amidst the uncertainty, this moment felt like a peaceful oasis.
"I've missed this," Addison murmured, her gaze drifting over the familiar rooftops and streets below.
Zed nodded, his expression softening. "Me too. I miss us."
Addison looked up at him, her heart skipping a beat at his words. "Zed..."
He gently cupped her face in his hands, leaning in to kiss her softly on the lips. It was a tender kiss, filled with unspoken apologies and promises of better times ahead. They had been through so much together, and in that moment, they both knew they were stronger together than apart.
As they pulled away, Addison rested her forehead against his, a content sigh escaping her lips. "I love you, Zed."
"I love you too, Addison," he whispered, his voice full of sincerity.
Hand in hand, they watched the meteor shower in the sky, casting a golden glow over the town they called home. "And the best part of this is the meteor shower." Zed pointed at the shooting stars above them. Addison stared away at the breathtaking view.
But her eyes narrowed as she looked at a particular meteor. "Zed, does that look like it's coming straight to us?" Addison asked, pointing at the meteor. Zed's eyes widened as realization hit him "Get down." Without hesitation, Zed pulled her close, shielding her instinctively as the ground trembled beneath their feet.
The impact was deafening, a thunderous crash that reverberated through the air. Dirt and debris scattered around them as they huddled together, sheltering against the force of the impact. Addison clung tightly to Zed, feeling the ground shake beneath them.
As the initial shockwave passed, they cautiously raised their heads, blinking against the dust and smoke that hung in the air. The meteor had landed not far from where they stood, creating a small crater in the ground. Heat radiated from the impact site, and the smell of burnt earth filled the air.
"Are you okay?" Zed asked urgently, checking Addison over for any signs of injury.
Addison nodded shakily, her eyes wide with adrenaline. "I think so. Are you?"
Zed gave a brief nod, his grip on her tightening slightly in relief. "Yeah, we're okay."
They stood together for a moment, catching their breath and processing the intensity of what had just happened. The realization of how close they had come to danger sank in, mingling with the relief that they had both escaped unharmed.
