Jay's POV
I honked my car horn with impatience. I told Justin five minutes ago I was outside his place, yet I was still waiting for him.
"I don't have all day!" I yelled out as I rolled down the car window. If I had to wait any longer, I'd leave him without a ride.
A minute later Justin came scurrying out the door, he quickly locked it, then walked towards my car.
"Got your keys?" I asked him once he got in. "I don't think either of us want a repeat of yesterday." Not that I minded him being over yesterday.
"Yup." He softly smiled as he showed me his keys, then put them back in his pocket. "I also put the spare key back into the fake rock. Thanks for the reminder yesterday."
I nodded my head. "No prob." I answered back.
Justin put his backpack on the floor, unzipped it and proceeded to pull a CD from it.
"Mind if I play a CD?" He asked me.
"I guess." I responded as I put the car into drive, he was probably going to play something like Britney Spears, or Lady Gaga.
The CD went in and the first thing I heard was a sparky synth. I quickly braced myself for the most basic sounding mainstream pop song I'd ever hear.
But then the singer started singing, and he didn't sound half bad. The song actually started to sound good and I was finding myself actually enjoying it.
The song was interesting, the synths were hazy and sparkling sounding, but it worked to create a unique feel and the synths used contrasted each other yet went so well together.
The vocals sounded processed but it added to the vibe of the song.
I paused the song. "What song is this and who is this?" I asked with intrigue.
"'Swimming In Miami' by Owl City." He told me with a slightly excited tone.
"Never heard of them." I told him.
"He sings 'Fireflies'. Surely you've heard that one?" His head tilted slightly.
"Nope." I shook my head. "Never heard that one or this band before."
Justin grinned. "Then you're missing out, and it's not a band really, it's a music project by one guy." He corrected me with a friendly smile.
"I'll have to check out their other stuff then." I suggested as I briefly glanced over at Justin.
"Definitely." He responded as he pushed play and resumed the music.

At my locker, I was grabbing a few things I needed for the day. That was when in the reflection of the mirror, I saw Alex behind me giving me a death stare.
I turned around and looked at Alex who was seeming to be shooting daggers at me in addition to the death glare. "May I help you?" I asked her with a gruff tone as I leaned against the lockers.
She put her hand in her pocket and pulled out a few dollar bills. "40 bucks for you to stay away from Justin." She demanded as she showed me the money. "You'll get 40 more in a few days." Her voice, hostile and slightly aggressive.
I straightened myself up and narrowed my eyebrows. "Is this a fucking bribe?" It definitely was, I just wanted her to admit it was.
She rolled her eyes. "It is dipshit! Now take the money and leave Justin alone." She ordered me as she tried to force the money into my hands.
Did she really think I'm going to take her money, because I sure as hell was not.
"Hell no! I'm not taking any bribes or anything of the sorts." I informed her with a scowl.
