The Sisters

Siva and her younger sister Art never knew much about their father. They've barraged their mother with questions about him.

Questions like, "What did he like to eat? What did he wear? Was he funnier than you?" They've seen pictures of him in his youth, and have few memories of him when he was there, but never enough to fill their void. However, that never stopped the duo. They used their love for photos to capture every moment they thought was special. Siva was obsessed with the old-school ways of taking pictures; a time before her mother and father, polaroids were her favorite, just from the aesthetic. The loud snap after every picture, the flash of attention, and the anticipation as you wait to see what you have captured thrilled her. But what made her love it more was its connection to her father. The camera she had was a memorial for him. Meanwhile, Art preferred the more modern choice. Finding the most up-to-date cameras has been her mission since they bonded over technology and gadgets. However, maybe after today, her taste might change.

"What makes you think this one will have it this time Siva?" Art asked, as she urgently hops into her jeans.

"This time I really feel it, Art!" Siva says rolling on the floor, wrestling with her final shoe. "There's another restock for the pawn shop down the street. I just know they'll have the camera I'm looking for because I've been bugging them about it for almost tw-"

"Two years now, I get it, but can't this wait for tomorrow?" Art questions, "We promised to give that old couple their photos for their kid's wedding tomorrow, and we should be getting prepared!" Art mouthed a bit louder than she preferred as she walked to her sister with concern on her face, not for the pictures, but for her sister's heart. She doesn't want it to get broken again for the millionth time.

Siva heeded her sister's expression, "Listen, once I see that they don't have the camera, we'll be right where we need to be. It's going to be in and out." A forced smile crept to Siva's face, which Art noted but didn't address. With a shrug, Art responds,

"Sure ok."
