—the warm, mid-spring sun shone brightly as katsuki walked out of the car, he briefly waved goodbye to his father before walking into school.

it was the start of a new week, one of the last few weeks of high school for katsuki. despite his rough weekend, the blond felt much better as his symptoms eased up. he spent the majority of the time nesting, self-soothing, and keeping his omega at ease. izuku was right about nesting, it helped a lot—much more than katsuki wanted to admit.

nevertheless, he shrugged these thoughts away as he walked into the building. upon entering, he caught a glimpse of his friend at her locker. the girl looked up, smiling softly.

"you suck at replying, dude. it's like i'm sending messages into the void." kyoka joked as she closed her locker, walking over to the blond. katsuki shrugged, walking up to his locker, and opening it quickly. "i've been busy." katsuki said, his tone a bit colder than he intended.

kyoka crossed her arms against her chest. "you've been saying that a lot lately." she replied.

since their first year, she noticed the closed-off attitude from katsuki, so a bit of coldness was nothing compared to his personality when they first met. from day one, she could tell katsuki was an omega. though, he did not seek solace from the other omegas within school. katsuki was always alone.

so, she approached him first during a random lunch. she didn't make it obvious, only sitting in front of katsuki without a word. when the blond looked up at her, she would flash a warm, close-mouthed smile. hence the start of their friendship. neither formally declared each other as friends, they just grew closer and suddenly the friendship was there.

though katsuki was never one to open up. she knew how open omegas could be with each other. she couldn't count the number of times she fell victim to overhearing the crude details they shared amongst each other about their heats. they were quite cliquish. though, katsuki didn't do any of that. it was almost like he didn't fit in with them.

that was until one day, katsuki told her that he would be presenting soon. it was more like of warning than katsuki opening up as it went along the lines of 'i won't be here because i'm presenting soon, keep up with the notes in class for me'.

that was it. that was all of the information katsuki would allow. then, he disappeared for a few days.

truly, she understood him to an extent. she knew katsuki was a dominant omega and that it meant things were different for him. though it wasn't often that an omega would open up to someone with a different secondary sex, and she was a beta. though, it often seemed like katsuki carried a lot of weight without an outlet.

despite his outwardly abrasive attitude, katsuki was a great friend. kyoka wanted to return the favor, though katsuki simply would never let her in.

"yeah, well i've been busy a lot lately." katsuki hummed as he took his shoes off, grabbing his indoor pair. kyoka hummed. it was still early in the morning, so they had time to talk. "with?"

katsuki paused at this, looking up at the girl as he put his shoes on. kyoka wasn't one to pry, so it was odd to see her asking further. though, he didn't question it. "being an omega. it's hell."

"oh, yeah that." she nodded despite not being able to relate. "it kept you busy all weekend? anything good happened?"

katsuki pressed his lips together before putting his shoes up and standing up, his gaze tilted slightly upwards to meet kyoka's. "i had to go to the clinic on saturday. so no."

kyoka perked up at this, "clinic? is everything all good? you seemed okay friday."

"i just had to check on some... things. i'm fine." katsuki shrugged, walking away from the lockers as more students entered school. kyoka hummed, following him further into school. "but ever since i presented, i hate going to the clinic. my doctor is the fuckin' worst."
