Madison's P.O.V.
It's all my fault. All my fault that Aiden is dead. I could've stopped him, but I wasn't quick enough. I know that if it happened it was meant to happen, but I still just can't forgive myself.
It all started when Uncle Eric didn't pick us up. He was supposed to pick us up from school but had apparently forgotten. So after I got off the phone with him me and Aiden started walking. It was a very cloudy day so it already seemed dark. We had walked home like this many times but today seemed different. Today something felt wrong. All of a sudden I got the feeling I was being watched. I could tell that Aiden felt it too, because he kept looking behind us and was acting nervous. Then out of nowhere a person dressed in all black and carry a gun started to follow us. At first we just kept walking and tried to ignore him. But then he started running right at us and pointing his gun at Aiden. In an effort to try and get away Aiden ran out into the road. There hadn't been any traffic so Aiden hadn't thought of that. Just then a car rounded the corner.
"Aiden!!!!" I yelled, but to no avail.
It was too late, the car was already on top of him by the time he tried to get away.
And that's how my brother died. All because of me.
"Hello?" Said Jazmine. I had been so lost in my own thought I hadn't even noticed she had been talking to me.
"What?" I said, still thinking about Aiden.
"I asked you if you were okay?"
"Oh yeah, I'm fine." I said, lying.
"Look I miss him too but we have to get ready, we have to be at the court in forty five minutes."
Oh great today was the day we had to go to court over Aiden's death. I had no intentions of talking the man who killed my brother or the police. The police had told us that his body was too mangled to be buried so we weren't even allowed to have a funeral. I know that if I went to court and they asked me to talk I would blow up and say things I would regret.
But I knew that I was the only one who knew the whole story, so I had to be there. I slowly dragged myself off my couch and into my room. We lived in a three story house on the out skirts of town. The top floor was mostly For storage and things like that. The second floor was Aiden's, our parents', and the guest bedrooms and bathrooms. The first floor was the kitchen, living room, all that stuff. And the basement was my room. I wasn't forced to live in the basement but I liked it down there.
Soon after I entered my room Jazmine was right behind me. She was the fashion expert, not me.
"So, what am I going to wear?" I asked her.
"Hmmmm let's see here"
She then proceeded to try different outfits on me. She ended up finally putting me in a plain white T-shirt, and a short golden skirt. She then made me tuck the shirt in and put on my white and gold striped heels.
Since I didn't have a car and she did she said she would pick me up in twenty minutes. I used those twenty minutes to put my long blond hair into a pony tail and curl it.
When I got in the car she was wearing dark camouflage pants, a light blue and green lace shirt with a black tank top, and her usual black glittery heels.
As we pulled into the court parking lot I started to get nervous. I hadn't told anyone about the accident since it happened, except Jazmine. Yet all these people were expecting me to go in there and just talk about it like it was nothing.
"Are you okay?" She asked
"Yeah, I guess so"
"I know its hard but its for your brother, and you need to help bring these people to justice."
