I nearly yelled, squealed, and fainted at the same time when I saw the girl in my kitchen. I settled for exclaiming:

"YOU?!!" At the same moment, she blurted out my name. I watched as she dropped both of the cans she was holding.

It also seemed that I had realized that I was practically half naked the same time she had. In a hurry, pulling down the rim of my shirt, I bolted back into my room and slammed the door hard. And locked it.

I immediately dove under my desk and went into hiding, pulling my stretchy shirt over my knees and hugging them.

I listened as yelling followed soon after.

Crap. I thought to myself. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap.
What just happened!??

"You're telling me N/A is your little sister!?" Vinnie shouted at Skipp.

"Yeah...?" Skipp confirmed, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. Stone glanced back and forth between them from the side.

"HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE TOLD ME THIS" Skipp recoiled at the volume of her voice.

"S-sorry???"

"THIS- AGHH-!!" She strangled the air with her fists. Skipp and Stone watched as she stood and grabbed her backpack, slinging it over her shoulder and unlocking the door.

"You're leaving?" They questioned her in unison.

She shut the door behind her as an answer.

I sat under my desk for what felt like a lifetime. Eventually I heard the front door open and close, and I breathed a sigh of relief– assuming that the girl was gone. I didn't even know her name yet, so it was unsettling that she used mine.

Then my mind flicked through millions of awkward scenarios that might occur the next day.

I groaned in agony, bonking my forehead with a frustrated fist. Maybe if I just meticulously avoided her I would be alright.

That was a total lie.

Every time the girls talked about Vinnie and her gang (well, they mostly talked about Stone), I would ignore their conversations. And every time Vinnie appeared in sight I would hide or run like a little girl– in front of all my friends.

It made sense that they were beginning to get suspicious. Luckily, they didn't care enough to question me right away.

Well, most of them anyway.

"What's with you?"

The question threw me off. "Excuse me?"

"I mean, why are you all like- panicky around that girl?"

I swallowed, feigning clueless-ness. "What girl?"

"You know, that one scratchy girl, what was her name? Vine?"

I shook my head quickly. "I don't know what you're talking about-"

"Are you... not being cool right now? Cause that is so not coo.." Her phone "ding"ed inside her hand, cutting her off. She paused and opened it:
"Oooh, that's rich..." She walked off- completely distracted. I exhaled with relief.

Turning, I rushed for the nearest bathroom, stepping inside and examining my hair in the mirror.

It helped to calm me down.

Until a stall opened behind me, and Vinnie's gaze fixated onto me in the mirror.

Vinnie froze, watching as N/A glanced at her, then disregarded her instantly. She rolled her eyes, walking up to a sink a few spots away. She turned on the water, keeping her eyes on it as she spoke:

"Why are you avoiding me?" She asked bluntly, waiting as a beat of silence followed.

"Why should I tell you?"

Vinnie's eyes lidded in annoyance.

"I won't ask you again."

"I don't have to answer you."

Vinnie turned her head to glare at the snappy, indifferent girl- who then turned her back on Vinnie and began walking away. In a split-second Vinnie was upon her, pinning her to the wall.

"You owe me an explanation, princess." Vinnie retorted. The girl's wide eyes flicked up to meet Vinnie's eyes. Behind her "cool"-ness, there was a hint of fear in N/A's expression, and a little of something else that Vinnie couldn't pinpoint.

Vinnie raised her eyebrows, as an invitation- or rather a command- to speak.

N/A's lips parted, and this time no testy remarks were made.

"What? No more smartass comments?" Vinnie said, placing one hand onto her hip.

N/A's startled look faded into a frown. Vinnie almost would've thought the small wrinkles in-between N/A's eyebrows were cute, if she wasn't so fed up with her.

"Cat got yer tongue now?" Vinnie teased, leaning closer.

Before N/A pushed her face aside with a hand and slid away.

Vinnie scowled, lurching forward to snatch one of N/A's hands mid-way through the door.

N/A glanced down at their hands, then at Vinnie, staring at her in silence. Vinnie opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. They stood there momentarily, until Vinnie's grip on her hand loosened.

N/A yanked her hand away, looking at Vinnie for a second before turning and storming off.

Vinnie stood there in confusion.

"...What the hell was that...?" She asked herself, hating that her cheeks were slowly getting warmer. She raised her hands to her cheeks and slapped them hard, scolding herself within beats.

"What-"

"The-"

"Hell-"

She sighed, leaning against the wall and glowering down at her hands instead.

...

"There must be something wrong with me..."
