it's december and christmas is just around the corner. it's you and taylor's first christmas as a couple and taylor is taking a break from the eras tour for a few weeks to celebrate the season with you. unfortunately, it hasn't been going as planned as taylor isn't feeling quite like herself lately.

taylor was still fast asleep and it was noon.
usually she's awake early but for the past week she's been sleeping in late.
you don't think anything of it, she deserves a rest after all her hard work.
unfortunately though, it was something more than just her needing some rest.
taylor stays awake late every night, obsessively reading negative articles about herself.

you're in the kitchen humming, baking some christmas cookies.
taylor sleepily walks into the kitchen, hugging you from behind.
"hi tay, how'd you sleep?" you say, still making the cookies.
"not great." she says sleepily
you put down your wooden spoon and turn to face her.
you push her blonde hair behind her ear and you can tell something isn't right.
her blue eyes don't have the sparkle in them like they usually do.
"what's up baby?" you say growing concerned.
"nothing, i'm just tired" she lies.
"the cookies smell amazing" she says quickly changing the subject, walking over to the couch and sitting down.

you know something is up with her, but you don't want to push her to tell you.
you take the first batch of cookies out of the oven and place them on the counter.
you leave them to cool down and go sit next to taylor.
she isn't her usual chatty self, and she gave you a weak smile as you sit next to her.
you take her soft hand into yours.
"you know you can tell me anything, right?" you say reassuringly.
"yeah, of course" she says with a fake happiness tone to her voice.
"so what's going on? you seem down" you say.
she takes a deep breath and looks down at the floor.
you tilt her chin up and look into her sad eyes.
she sighs and tells you everything.

"i've been reading a lot of negative articles about myself and the tour. people online are vicious. did you know there's a whole side of the internet dedicated to criticizing my every move? it's seriously affecting me lately, but i just can't stop reading and watching all of it"
your heart shatters a little bit.
you've seen a couple of negative comments here and there so you know how horrible people can be to your perfect, sweet, loving girlfriend.
"i can't even begin to imagine how hard that must be for you tay. people can be so mean when someone is shining as brightly as you do. they are jealous.  you need to focus on the positives babe, think of how much the fans love you, think of how much i love you. there's so much more positivity than negativity and you deserve all the love you and the tour receive. the people hating don't appreciate your hard work, your dedication, your talent, your determination and most importantly, your kindness."
you see a small smile appear on taylor's face, as tears fill her blue eyes.
she gives you a big hug.
"i think that's exactly what i needed to hear." she says with relief.
you smile at her, happy to see her smiling again.
"i'm so lucky to have you" taylor says, leaning her head on your shoulder.
you wrap your arms around her, hugging her tightly.
you don't want to ever see her upset, and you're glad you could comfort her.
she leans in close to you and whispers in your ear,
"to you, i can admit that i'm just too soft for all of it"
