wrote this super quickly, not loving it but its kinda cute:
He had noticed her nervous ticks from the third date. How she nervously taps her fingers, bites her pink heart shaped lips, and shakes her long legs.
"You okay?" Travis leaned in to ask his lips brushing against her right ear.
Her eyes widened slightly, realizing she'd been lost in thought. Taylor gave a small nod, the corners of her mouth tilting upward in a forced smile.
They where at another event, and Travis had to admit that she looked stunning. Wearing her long blonde curls natural and flowing, with a elegant deep blue dress. Her eyes, a piercing blue, searched the room as she took a sip of her drink.
"You're doing great," Travis whispered, placing a gentle hand on her lower back. He felt her tense up at first but then she leaned into his touch, her shoulders relaxing slightly.
Then she looked up with her wide eyes and asked, "Can I hold your hand?"
Travis looked down at her, a soft smile playing on his lips as he took her hand in his. The warmth of his touch sent a comforting wave through her, and her tapping fingers stilled.
"Sit on my lap baby," Travis smiled widely.
Her cheeks flushed pink as she scooted closer to him on the couch. She felt his strong arms wrap around her waist, pulling her in gently. He was so much taller than her, and she felt safe and protected in his embrace. The warmth from his body seeped into her, and she couldn't help but let out a content sigh.
"Talk to me baby," Travis put a comforting hand on her upper thigh.
Taylor took a deep breath, "It's just...I... I saw Joe's here... and I dont want him to come up to us"
Travis's smile faded, and he glanced around the room. The tension grew thick as he searched the sea of faces for Joe, Taylor's ex. "Where?" he asked, his voice a low rumble.
Taylor's eyes remained on the floor, her fingers tightening around her drink. "I don't know," she whispered. "But I don't want him near me"
When Travis used his thumb to lift her chin up to look into her eyes, he saw them glistening with tears.
"Babe," he said, his voice tender, "What did he do to you?"
Her eyes searched his, looking for reassurance, and she took a shaky breath before speaking. "It's not just one thing, Trav. It's everything. He... he made me feel so small, so insignificant. Like I didn't matter."
Travis felt his jaw clench, his protective instincts kicking into high gear. He pulled her closer, whispering into her ear, "You matter to me, Tay. More than anything." He didn't miss the way she shivered slightly at the sound of her nickname on his lips.
The room swam around them, the chatter of the partygoers fading into the background as he focused solely on her. His hand moved from her thigh to cradle her cheek, his thumb brushing away a stray tear. "Whatever he did," he said firmly, "it's not your fault. You're amazing, and you don't deserve to be treated like that."
