To say San was the happiest he's ever been would be completely accurate. He was truly, utterly filled to the brim with joy.Wooyoung wasn't perfect, San realized pretty early on how snappy or cold he'd get when stressed, but San believed he was perfect for him. From the way Wooyoung was always sassy in the morning, to how he nagged and nagged about San's lack of a healthy work-life balance. It brought upon feelings San had only ever dreamed of. Days spent visiting Wooyoung on his lunch breaks, kissing him goodnight before he swung off into the city's streets, or taking a Thursday off to spend their night between the sheets, San quickly felt himself fall deep into love, and even if he'd yet confessed this, he was certainly nearing that emotion at a rapid rate.
He made an effort to do more than share whatever mission Spider-Man had for the night, figuring it would get tiresome to hear about, but Wooyoung always listened intently and called him his hero. The younger ignited a feeling in San that he'd never felt before. A certain area of his heart was discovered when he caught a glimpse of sleepy Wooyoung, or clingy Wooyoung, or working Wooyoung.
He had been a little thrown off, though. He was expecting to lose the other permanently after he locked lips with a certain supervillain, but the boy never mentioned it. When the articles flooded with accusations of Spider-Man's secret rendezvous with Black Cat, Wooyoung never so much as made a joke about San's alleged 'partner in crime.' He was expecting a lot more than a simple, 'I understand.' But, he appreciated it. At least he wasn't getting interrogated by the one person whose opinion actually mattered.
Because of their mutual hectic schedules, Wooyoung had decided to lend San a key to his apartment. For whenever he wanted to rest after a long night, or early morning, and Wooyoung couldn't be bothered to wake up and let him in. They grew into a comfortable routine. San working his ass off saving the city just so he could hold Wooyoung at night. It'd been the best two months of his life. No amount of public adoration could even scratch the surface of what it was like with Wooyoung.
To San's dismay, an official relationship seemed taboo. He had mentioned it casually before, yet Wooyoung always seemed to dance around blatantly stating anything between them was serious.
But, San knew it was serious, he could feel it when they laughed, touched, kissed, argued, fucked. He could sense it in the air when Wooyounh laughed off his attempts at asking him out. He knew Wooyoung wanted more, they both did, yet the distance between them seemed impossible to break. He didn't want to pry, he knew that could risk the gap only increasing, but his confusion always stayed at the forefront of his mind.
Wooyoung had called him early in the morning, complaining about having to work late and letting him know there's no need to come over, considering he'd be too exhausted to enjoy their time together. San had assured him he could survive one day without smothering the other in kisses, and Wooyoung had voiced his disbelief.
It was perfect, really. Not being his boyfriend wasn't the end of the world. They'd date soon, anyway, so what would be the point on dwelling upon something inevitable?
San hadn't seen Black Cat as of late. They'd gone completely radio silent after their make out session and heart-to-heart. San simply hoped they listened to his words, chose to lead a life of good.
Considering he didn't have the luxury of annoying Wooyoung tonight, he was able to supervise the city with a clear headspace. It wasn't as if every night herds people were screaming for help, so he perched on a ledge, tampering with the volume of the police radio. He was staring blankly at his messages with Wooyoung, subconsciously hoping to receive an 'i miss you' text so he could bolt over and shower the boy with affection.
But, he'd been with the younger long enough to know he wasn't going to get a sappy text. Maybe he'd get a message complaining about how San needs to start helping with cleaning, or that Wooyoung's boss was an asshole. Either way; any acknowledgment from the other still set San's heart ablaze.
