32. The number of travelers is increasing?

Corazon

Normally I don't mind traveling with other people. But this time? The presence of the brunette man was ticking me off. 

His name's Caelus as per what Rhys told me. And its highly ticks me off how she's interacting with him without any caution. I mean, they may have been childhood friends, but a lot of years passed right?

And it's not like we are traveling for leisure. It's for treating Law's disease for god's sake. And the ever cautious Rhys has suddenly lowered her walls around this guy?

This woman's going to be the death of me.

"Hestia isn't anything like how you've seen it before. A lot of changes happened! More people came to reside there, more buildings, tastier foods and whatnot." Caelus spoke enthusiastically. Rhys listened to him while resting her chin on one hand and a small hint of smile was present on her face. However, Caelus thought she wasn't listening and frowned.

"Are you listening to me? Nastya?" he spoke waving a hand before her. She just shrugged back.

"Yeah, I am. Go on Cael" 

Caelus didn't look entirely convinced but went on babbling nevertheless. 

She may trust this screwy git blindly, but I am not lowering my guard around him. 

"You are Corazon right?" Caelus spoke, turning his attention towards him. I nodded in response and he grinned.

"Not much of a talker?" he asked again.

"Corazon can't talk" Rhys spoke for me. I'm surprised she decided to go on with my act and not push me further. Not to mention she's flatly lying to her seemingly childhood best friend. 

Caelus' smile dropped, "Man. I'm really sorry. How did it happen anyways? was it-"

Caelus was interrupted abruptly by Rhys kicking his leg. With a straight face, she spoke, "Dont be insensitive Cael"

Cael?

She's calling him nicknames now?

The only person she called nicknames was me. 

I may have been oblivious while staring at her because she frowned and snapped at me, "What's it banana head?"

Much better. 

I shrugged and wrote in my notepad, 'Look who's talking. If it isn't 'Rice''

Rhys rolled her eyes, "Is that all you've got, you giant oaf?" she spat back. And don't misjudge. I am definitely not enjoying it.

'What did you just call me you short stack?'

Caelus looked alarmed by the devious aura we both gave out.

"can't we talk the problem out like civilized adul-"

"Shut up Caelus" She spoke and I wrote.

Rhys glared at me "How dare you shut up my best friend?"

'This is my boat, if you forgot, you crow head'

"Crow head?" she gasped, "I may like crows, but that doesn't mean I like being compared to a crow!" she punched my arm. 

I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss it.

I didn't back down either, I flicked her forehead. She responded by tickling me. And Law again had to be the peacemaker before a huge fight broke out (He threatened us that he'd spit on our food if we didn't spot our fight then and there.)

For the rest of the journey, we didn't say anything. We were solely focused on getting to the next island. Caelus was teaching Law how to fish perfectly, Rhys was reading about hospitals on the next island and I was navigating the boat. 

It was peaceful for sure, that was until an unexpected ship passed us.

It was a pirate ship for sure. The ship wasn't much bigger than ours but was filled with hundreds of men. 

One of their men, a tall and gruff man with the most hideous mustache came forward and spoke in a commanding tone. "HAND OVER YOUR VALUABLES AND YOU CAN LEAVE, UNHARMED. OTHERWISE" he was scratching his cheek with a dagger in a threatening way. Caelus immediately picked Law up and the freaking paddle in another hand. Doesn't he have a proper weapon?

I stepped in forward and gestured for him to look after the boat. Caelus nodded, but confusion was apparent in his face. I picked up my pistol and aimed at one of the guys.

The pirates however, let out a laugh at my attempt to threaten them. Rhys clicked her tongue and before I could even realise, she took out her Katanas and walked forward.

"Oh you guys want our money? Do you even know which pirate crew are we from?" she spoke, clutching her katana. Her knuckles were turning white because of her grip, but she didn't seem to have noticed. 

"I'll divert their attention, you and Caelus meanwhile take Law and flee to the next island" she spoke in a voice, barely above whisper. I opened my mouth to protest, but she immediately shut me up byplacing a finger on my lips and gestured that Caelus is watching. I wanted to protest further, but before that she jumped to the other ship, full fledged for a fight.

The men in the ship laughed even harder seeing her.

"What are you going to do? Make sandwiches for us using that katanas?"

"Careful pretty lady, you might slice your delicate skin"

I gritted my teeth hard and would punch em up if they spoke any further. What did they know? She's the strongest sword wielder among us marines. Even Fujitora had a hard time fighting her. Not even Doffy's crew could fight her. 

But no, I was forced to flee with this screwy brunette git and Law. As much as I love to fight alongside her, I could risk their lives. I took back te paddle and started fleeing without being noticed by them.

"You know, we anyways need a woman in our ship. For cooking and you know, our purposes." the captain spoke to her. I was about to jump into that ship, and punch that guy senseless, but before I could react, Rhys grinned. 

Oh hell yeah. 

I started paddling the boat faster. Oh boy, its going to be brutal with them.

I hope she at least don't slice the ship off.
