Around 1 a.m. at night, Aarohi started to shiver badly while murmuring something. Her breath was uneven, and her face was covered with cold sweat while she was clutching the bedsheets tightly in her fist.
Aditya woke up from his sleep on hearing her faint voice. He quickly turned on the bedside lamp and leaned closer to Aarohi to hear what she was murmuring.
"N..no..n..no..I...d..didn't..do..it."
"Aarohi, Aarohi, wake up." He said softly while patting her cheeks. "Once again, nightmare?!" He said in his mind while looking at her worryingly.
Aarohi got up with a jolt; her heart was beating fastly while her face was covered with sweat. She was trying hard to breathe normally. To calm her down, he hugged her, and she held him tightly as if trying to hide herself in his embrace.
"Aarohi, are you okay? Was it a nightmare? Do you want to share it with me?" He asked her in softly while gently patting her back. She just nodded her head lightly in response. Her eyes were filled with tears as she remembered her dreadful dream.
"I don't want to go there." She said while controlling her sobs. "Where Aarohi?" He asked her softly while wiping off the tears from her face. "A...at Dadu's death ceremony prayer." She said while hugging him back.
He gently patted at her shoulder and said, "You're holding a lot of things by yourself, which is disturbing your peace, Aaru. You know that you can share any troublesome memory with me, right? Then why are you still troubling yourself? Aaru I won't pressurise you; it's all up to you, so whenever you feel like it's too much for you to handle, you can share it with me."
Aarohi heard him carefully while thinking something."I promise Aarohi I won't judge you; I'm just trying to help you. So are you willing to share your past with me?" He asked her again. She looked into his eyes and hugged him again, as she was very frightened at the moment. After thinking a lot, Aarohi finally decided to tell the truth to Aditya.
"In m..my dre.. dream today dadi w..was bl..blaming me for dadu's de..death. But trust me Aditya I didn't do anything."Aarohi tried to control her tears as she revealed her nightmare to Aditya, while the latter was shocked by her confession.
"I trust you, Aarohi." He said while tightening his hold on her shoulder. "Calm down first of all and remember I'm on your side irrespective of what the situation is." He said while gently holding her face.
"I was 7 years old when my grandfather died. I was very close to him. My grandfather loved me the most, and that's why he used to fulfil all my wishes without questioning me. One day when I and Grandpa were coming from the park, I saw a puppy in the middle of the road." Aarohi closed her eyes as she revealed her past memories to him.
"Without thinking of the outcome, I ran towards it to protect it from the passing by cars in the middle of the road. Grandpa saw this and ran towards me. As soon as I picked up the puppy and was returning towards the side of the road, a car came very fast in my direction, and while trying to save me, Grandpa met with an accident." Aarohi broke down into tears as she remembered her dadu in a pool of blood.
