"Yeah, we'll continue with the plan," an unknown voice said, not far from Winter and Karina's location, before abruptly hanging up the call.

Later that evening, Karina found herself back in her apartment, the events of the day replaying in her mind. She couldn't shake the image of Winter's tear-streaked face or the feeling of helplessness that had washed over her.
She knew she had to do something. Should she interfere with Winter and Minju's relationship? No, that would make her a homewrecker. But if she was doing it for Winter's sake, could it still be considered wrong? The moral dilemma bothered her, leaving her conflicted and unsure of what to do next.
Meanwhile, Winter was already asleep upstairs in their apartment. Karina had wanted to accompany her home, but Winter had insisted she not, because of Minju.
As Winter slept, Minju fumed downstairs. She had seen Karina and Winter together in the park, and it made her blood boil. She couldn't afford to lose Winter, not now. Minju knew she had to step up her game to keep Winter close. She was more determined than ever to maintain her control over Winter.
Minju walked over to her phone and dialed a number.
"What is it now?" A gruff voice, dripping with menace, answered Minju's call.
"Let's just deal with it already. I want to do it as soon as possible," Minju said, pacing the room with agitation, her fingers drumming against her thigh.
The man on the phone scoffed, "You're that desperate now?"
"Whatever. I want this to come out clean, Vern," Minju snapped, her eyes narrowing with resolve as she clenched her free hand into a fist.
She hung up angrily and tossed her phone onto the couch, its impact barely muffled by the cushions. She stood there, her mind racing with schemes and plots, determined to eliminate any threat to her hold over Winter.
The day finally arrived, and an uneasy calm settled over the city. Minju and Vern were ready to set their plan into motion. Minju had spent the previous nights meticulously going over every detail, ensuring that nothing would go wrong. She couldn't afford to make any mistakes.
In the afternoon, Winter received a message from Minju, asking her to meet at an unusual spot in town. Winter hesitated, feeling a strange sense of dread, but decided to go. She didn't want to upset Minju any further.
The place was shady, quiet, dark, and full of insects. Winter's heart pounded as she stepped further in, unsure of the path she was taking. She wasn't sure if this was really the place Minju wanted to meet her, but this was the location Minju had sent.
"Minju... am I really supposed to go through here?" Winter murmured to herself as she continued to walk.
Vern was already waiting at a secluded clearing, concealed by the shadows. He was poised to move and execute their plan.
"Three,"
"Two,"
"One,"
Suddenly, Winter felt a giant man cover her face with a cloth. She struggled fiercely, trying to pull him away and defend herself with all her strength, but it wasn't enough. The cloth had a scent sprayed onto it that induced drowsiness, causing anyone who inhaled it to quickly fall asleep. Winter's resistance weakened as she inhaled the drugged cloth.
"Gotcha," Vern sneered, smirking as he watched the young woman fall unconscious into his arms.
"You're not getting away with this!" Karina shouted, leaping towards Vern and knocking him aside as she grabbed Winter from his grasp.
Karina had been haunted by a bad feeling ever since she woke up that morning. When she saw Winter leaving their apartment, she decided to follow her discreetly, keeping a safe distance. Her heart pounded in her chest as she watched Winter walk towards the secluded area, oblivious to the danger that lay ahead.
"Winter," Karina said, shaking her gently, trying to wake her up.
Vern stood up moments after Karina's attack, glaring at her with fury. "Now who the hell are you?!"
"If you ever see this woman near Winter, do everything you can to keep her away," Minju instructed, showing Vern a picture of Karina the night before they executed their plan.
"Noted," Vern replied with a nod, his eyes narrowing as he committed Karina's face to memory.
"Karina?!" Vern exclaimed in disbelief, recognizing her as she stood protectively over Winter. His surprise quickly turned to anger as he realized his plan was being thwarted.
"Darn it, get away!" Vern shouted, shoving Karina aside as he tried to take Winter from her.
Despite Minju's instructions to harm Karina if necessary, Vern had initially hesitated. But now, seeing the situation spiraling out of control, he realized he had no choice. He punched Karina hard in the arm, followed by a blow to her face, causing her to wince in pain and momentarily let go of Winter.
Vern smirked in triumph as he quickly took Winter from Karina's arms, but she didn't give up. Despite the force of Vern's punches, which could have knocked out a lesser person, Karina's determination to save Winter was unwavering.
Karina fought back, using every ounce of her strength. She punched, pushed, slapped—anything to fend off Vern, even if her efforts didn't seem to cause him much harm.
"Get away from Winter, you bastard!" Karina yelled, her voice filled with desperation and fury.
"You're working with Minju, aren't you?!" Karina accused, her eyes blazing with anger and resolve as she continued her relentless assault.
"So what if I do?" Vern answered, his voice dripping with aggression, "Can you do anything about it?" His eyes narrowed, challenging her.
Karina's rage intensified at his words. She attacked him, her strikes stronger, her screams louder, drawing the attention of passersby who began to gather around, curious and concerned.
Vern did not like this. He was slipping up, and Minju would NOT like this. No one would. He was failing miserably because of that woman, because of Karina.
More and more people started to form a crowd, their whispers growing louder. He couldn't stay any longer or he would be exposed, or worse, he might get arrested, with Karina being the key witness.
He quickly stood up and said, "This isn't over, Karina," before he ran away as fast as he could into a nearby alley, disappearing from the scene, leaving Karina and Winter alone.
As Vern retreated, Karina pulled Winter into a tight embrace. "It's okay, you're safe now," she whispered into Winter's ear, even though she's still asleep.
Karina then brought Winter to the nearest hospital after ensuring the crowd had dispersed and they were no longer being watched. She knew Winter needed immediate medical attention and couldn't afford any further delays.
