Two months later:

Aurora's POV:

"I'm so sorry, my love." I mumble, hugging Eric tightly against me so he'd stop crying. I've been so busy with Iris that he fell when I turned my attention from him for one second.

"Mommy kiss." He sniffles with the most adorable little pout, making me smile and lean over to kiss his cheek. His small chubby arms wrap around my neck and I hoist him up and carry him into the house.

It was my fault for biting off more than I can chew. And I'm not talking about Eric or Iris; they're two of the greatest joys in my life.

It's the fact that Tristan has more meetings than ever after being on leave and we're moving out soon to the new house. Not to mention, I started taking some classes at the college near by; I had applied and got accepted.

The past year had been proof that I needed something to live for besides my family. Something solely mine. So I put in the work and enrolled in our local university. I started studying when I was eight months pregnant. And I hadn't told Tristan until I was a shoo-in as I didn't want to get special treatment, rather on my own merits.

When I got the news that I was in, I was nervous to tell Tristan. I wasn't sure how he'd react and this was the first time I've hidden something concerning me from him.

Flashback:

"Sorry, I'm late." Tristan exhales as he enters the bedroom to find me sitting on the couch. His eyes land on mine and he quickly analyzes my expression. "What's wrong?" He asks as he loosens his tie.

"I need to talk to you about something." I tell him and he deduces the seriousness of the conversation which prompts him to walk over and sit beside me.

His hand grasps on tightly onto mine as his worried eyes rake all over my face. "What's this about?" He asks.

"I was accepted into the local college." I announce and his brows raise in surprise.

"You were?" He asks and I nod. "Yes. I'll be taking classes there next semester." I reply.

He stills for a moment before turning to me. "You're pregnant." He reminds me and I nod. The current reality is that I'm on bed rest but classes don't start till September.

"I know." I tell him. "But it'll be a few months before I start going. The baby will already be born by then."

"I see." He contemplates. "And is this something you want to pursue?" He asks and I nod again.

"It is. I didn't know I wanted it before but I need something to myself. At least currently. You have your job and I just feel as though I never do something just for me." I explain, trying to get him to grasp my reasoning.

He lets out a sharp exhale before turning to me. "What's the schedule?" He questions.

"Five times a week. But my presence isn't required everyday. I can attend most of the lectures online but there are also workshops where I'm obligated to be there." I clarify, laying out all the facts so he knows everything.
