ONCE WE STOPPED talking, it was time to begin coupling up.

"alright everyone, this is it. your journey to finding love has begun." ariana tells us, clapping her hands together, "let's raise our glasses for an amazing summer together."

we all walk together away from the campfire and the girls stand on one side, and the boys stand on the other.

"it's time to get started, and as usual on love island, we are going to get you guys coupled up. but this year, it's going to be different." ariana explains, and when we hear that it will be different, we all 'ooh'.

"before coupling up, the islanders will get to know each other with our game..  icebreakers." she continues, "we're going to play a game where you get to kiss each other and see if you are compatible before you make your decision on who you want to couple up with."

everyone is nervous for the first challenge and coupling. "islanders must break that large ice cube to retrieve a card containing a question-"

"ooh.." kendall whispers

"which they will answer by choosing someone to kiss." ariana grins to us.

at the end of the challenge, coupling starts. the boys stand on heart shaped patterns, and the girls lined up beside ariana in front of them.

"okay it's time to get coupled up for the very first time. and here is how it's going to work" ariana explains, "girls, as you can see, the boys are each standing on a heart. when i say 'go,' you're going to stand by the boy you want to couple up with."

"this can be someone you like, or someone you kissed during the challenge, or whoever. if a boy has more than one girl, they will choose who they want to couple with." she continues

"alright girls, go stand next to your boy!" she dismisses us

i walk over to rob, who smiles to me. i felt like we had a lot in common, and i wanted to get to know him better.

we look around. serena, hannah, and jaNa were with coye. kendall and kordell alone. kaylor and aaron, and leah and miguel.

"oh my gosh, that's three girls!" ariana laughs

"maybe i need to hold on tighter" jaNa jokes, wrapping her arms around his bicep

"okay, coye-" ariana laughs, "you girls really knew what you wanted"

kordell speaks, "we can't all be 6'8!" everyone laughs

"he's loving life right now" aaron says, grinning

"alright coye, let's start with you." ariana moves to him

"you have three gorgeous girls next to you.. hannah, jaNa and serena."

"how do you feel?" she asks

"a little overwhelmed" he laughs

"does this happen a lot in the real world?" ariana asks

"yes, it does"

she turns to hannah, "hannah, what made you want to couple up with coye?"

"i mean, coming to the island, i wanted a man 6' feet or up- that's the first thing i said" she answered

"alright, jaNa? why did you choose coye?"

"i mean- look at him" she laughs, "i think he's definitely the first one to catch my eye. and he's a really good kisser- that's for sure."

"how was that kiss?" ariana asks her

"a 1000 out of ten" jaNa says

"wow! an 1000/10 on the first try." ariana is suprised at the quick connection between the two, "serena, what made you pick him?"

"he's obviously very handsome, and he said that he wanted someone outgoing and smart, and i think i can give him that." she answers honestly.

"well coye, you clearly made a good first impression- you now have to decide who you want to couple up with." ariana tells him, "hannah, serena, or jaNa?"

he thinks, "imma go with jaNa."

everyone cheers, happy for both of them since they were the first to couple up at the new villa

"alright! what made you choose jaNa?"

"just her personality seemed cool, got a pretty smile" he says, looking down at her with a smile

i smile at them, happy to see them together.

"stop it, stop" she giggles, melting into his touch.

at the end of the coupling, the couples all split up and went to talk and get closer to one another.

me and rob went to the dock, watching at the water before he spoke. "what made you choose me?"

i look over at him, "we seemed like we had stuff in common. growing up in the countryside, and our passion for animals and snakes"

"i still can't believe you like snakes, i've never met a girl like you" he tells me, truthfully

"i guess that's why i coupled up with you," i shrug, looking at him with a sweet smile.

"do you guys wear like cute pjs to bed?" kaylor asks, holding up possible pajama outfits

"i do" i tell her, walking out in my brandy pj set

"ugh why are you so cute before bed" she groans and everyone laughs.

i laugh, taking my makeup off from today

once all the girls are ready for bed, we go into the bedroom where the boys were waiting

once the lights were out, everyone fell asleep. rob was being shy, not knowing if he should touch me or not.

i roll my eyes, "your so shy tonight" i say, grabbing his arm and wrapping it around my waist, he puts his head into my neck

"am not" he hums sleepily
