"That was the darkest day of my life. It was raining, covering my tears. I failed to get into the school that was the first choice of my parents. I thought I would be the saddest person that night. But I met someone sadder than me. I guess he needed comfort more than me, so I gave him my umbrella and walked away. I didn't know then that he would silently begin to change my world."

Rain

The whole school waited with bated breath. They were all looking forward to celebrate the birthday of Varain Lee, one of the most popular students in the school. Varain's parents were great businesspeople, especially in the field of education, and were big time benefactors of the school. "He is here! He is here! Let's take a video!" someone called out and everyone whipped out their phones. But the person to walk up was Sky, Rain's best friend. He stopped, with his mouth in a small frown and then looked back. Varain walked up behind him and was immediately surrounded by people. "Rain, this is for you. Happy birthday." "Happy Birthday Rain!" "Hey! Happy birthday!" People pushed their gifts into his hands, which he handed over to Sky.

"Hey! You are free right? Come with me!" a boy standing by was dragged into watching a girl propose to Rain. She danced in front of him, and when it was done, everyone raised their boards behind her. "Rain! Will you be my boyfriend?" she asked. Rain stood there, unable to react, while everyone behind the girl began to chant and ask them to be together. Before Rain could say anything, the girl's brother rushed up and stopped everything. "Ple!" he hissed. "What do you think you are doing with this ugly guy?" "Ugly guy? Who are you calling ugly guy Phi? You are the ugly guy!" Ple shouted. "Always you interfere in my life," she shouted and stormed off, Som running behind her. The two of them pushed into someone whose board fell down. "Boring!" Sky rolled his eyes.

Rain bent down and picked up the board. "I think this is yours," he said, handing it to the person in front of him with a smile. He then walked off with Sky, not knowing that someone watched him longingly. Later in the music room, Sky opened all the gifts that Rain got, while Rain played the keyboard. "What are you going to do with all of these?" Sky asked. "What we do every year," Rain said, not even bothering to look at the stuff that was being pulled out of the bags. Sky then laughed, and handed over his gift for Rain, a calligraphy pen set, who hugged him and thanked him.

"Bad brother! Stupid brother!" Ple screamed at Som as his friends watched the siblings fight. "You can think about being with any guy, but why him?" Som shouted back, frustrated. "Are you saying that because he is better than you in everything and you are just a sore loser?" she gave right back. Som spluttered, annoyed that even his sister was on the side of that stupid boy he hated so much. "Not at all!" he said. "Then in that case, promise me that you will never bother him or bully him. If you will do that, I will stop being your sister. You better promise me," Ple said. "Okay, okay. I promise you," Som said, not at all happy with these turn of events. "Okay! You must keep this promise!" Ple said, before disappearing from there.
