ROSALIE

I LOST MY BRACELET. Of course, on today, of all days, I lost my fucking bracelet. I inspected my bedroom for what had to be the tenth time. It wasn't on my nightstand, which was where I was sure I put it. I don't know how a damn bracelet managed to disappear, but of course, mine had.

"God damnit," I muttered. We don't have time for me to be sitting here searching for my bracelet because we need to get on the road. But I didn't go anywhere without my bracelet, and I wasn't about to now. Hopefully Carlisle will understand.

"Carlisle," I cried, massaging the bridge of my nose in agitation.

Carlisle walked over to my room and stood in the doorway. His gold eyes were still unsettled from our argument earlier. "Yes, Rosalie?"

"I lost my bracelet. Have you or Esme seen it?" I crossed my arms and huffed.

"No, I haven't seen it. But I'll go ask Esme." He was gone in a flash and then came back, my bracelet in his hand.

"Thank you. Where was it?" I asked as I took it from him.

"Esme found it in the car. It must've fallen off."

After a moment of awkward silence, and then finally let out a loud puff of air from my nose, my nostrils flaring. "Do we really have to go?"

"We have to, Rosalie," Carlisle said as I clasped my bracelet around my wrist, where it belonged. I glanced over to my suitcase on my bed, which was filled to the brim; the zipper barely closed. I don't have any idea how long we'll have to be in Portland, so I packed almost everything.

"Edward made his choice. I don't see why we have to go chasing after him now."

This was the same exact thing I had said to Carlisle during our earlier argument. Shock didn't ripple across Carlisle's face this time, like it had the first time.

"That's not fair. Your brother needs us, Rosalie. He's not himself right now."

I stayed silent, giving Carlisle a look that suggested I didn't particularly care. I was so sick of having to move around constantly. This time, it was utterly unnecessary. If Edward jumps off of a cliff, we all have to? Hell no. I was fine here in Forks.

I could see I was beginning to upset Carlisle, which was hard to do. I sighed. "I just don't understand why it matters. What Edward does has nothing to do with me. Or the rest of us for that matter."

"He's family. That's why it matters," Carlisle softly said.

I knew that if it took seventy years for Carlisle to get Edward back, he would spend every second of those seven decades looking for him. He wouldn't stop until Edward was back home, even if we all stopped searching. Carlisle and Esme would never give up the search for their golden child.
