Oops. I killed him.
I awake from my daze with blood all over my shirt. The man is lying on the floor, limp and white as a sheet. My shaky fingers press to his fat neck, now graced with two bite marks. No pulse–he's decidedly dead. My head spins like I'm on some designer drug and my body feels like it's ready to explode. I burst through the back wall like it's tissue paper and sprint to the shore line, tears streaming from my eyes. "Damn it! Damn it! You idiot!"
I'm hallucinating. Poseidon's voice rattles my skull as he proclaims victory. His laugh makes my blood run cold. No...not my blood. Oh God, help me. My voice tears through my throat as I scream at the old god, reminding him that he's dead. His laughter finally fades against the rumble of the crashing waves.
It's now the dead of night. I look up at a gibbous moon and take a deep breath. There's no time for self hatred. Eve needs me. She needs this energy overflowing inside of me. My demon is so sated I can't even feel it anymore. I retreat back into the forest and make my way to the Mên-an-Tol stones, thrashing through a field of thorns to punish myself. I'll deal with the fact that I've become a monster later.
