Dear diary,
The day is finally here. School starts, now that's something not anyone is happy about, but it's my last year! Finally! I just can't wait to graduate high school. With my straight A's and B's, i might do something out of my life, other than smoking weed behind school with Natalie. (I am just kidding, or..). Also today i'll see rafe again, and i do feel like a bad friend, but come one, who doesn't have a crush on Rafe Cameron. But i mean i really have to get over myself. Sarah is my best friend and i love her so much. I would never do that to her.

I flipped my hair to the side and turned around, scrutinizing my reflection in the mirror. "I have no idea how to wear my hair today," I said, frustration creeping into my voice.
Sarah burst out laughing, doubling over and clutching her stomach. "You look like a fucking maniac with your hair like that!" she exclaimed, tears of laughter forming in her eyes.
I rolled my eyes but couldn't help joining her in laughter. "Alright, alright, point taken," I said, trying to compose myself.
Sarah, always the practical one, took a deep breath and regained her composure. "Why don't you go for a blowout look?" she suggested, her tone turning serious.
I looked back in the mirror, running my fingers through my hair. "Yeah, maybe," I said, considering her idea. Sarah nodded encouragingly, her reflection in the mirror looking more put-together than I felt.
"Fine," I sighed, grabbing my hairbrush and starting to work on my hair.
Just as I was about to finish, Mom's voice rang out from downstairs. "Girls, the bus is here!"
"Shit," I muttered under my breath, panic setting in. "We need to go, now!"
We sprinted downstairs, grabbing our bags on the way. "Bye, Mom!" I shouted over my shoulder.
"Bye, Vanessa!" Sarah echoed.
We burst out the front door and raced to the bus stop, making it just in time. We collapsed into our seats, both of us breathless and bursting into laughter once again. "That was so close," I said, trying to catch my breath.
"I know!" Sarah replied, her face still flushed from the rush. "One more second and we would've missed it."
As the bus rumbled down the familiar roads of the Outer Banks, we settled into a comfortable silence, the kind that only best friends can share. I glanced out the window, watching the scenery blur by. The early morning sun cast a golden glow over the beach, the waves gently lapping at the shore.
"Hey, Bea," Sarah said, breaking the silence. "You okay? You've been kind of quiet lately."
I turned to her, offering a small smile. "Yeah, I'm okay. Just thinking about...everything."
She nodded, understanding without needing more explanation. "If you ever need to talk, you know I'm here, right?"
"Thanks, Sarah," I said, genuinely grateful. "I know."
We spent the rest of the ride talking about lighter things—school, upcoming parties, the latest drama among our friends. By the time we reached the school, I felt a little lighter, the weight of my worries eased by Sarah's presence.
As we stepped off the bus, John B and JJ were waiting for us, leaning against the school fence. "Took you long enough," JJ teased, flashing his signature grin.
"Blame Bea," Sarah said, nudging me playfully. "She couldn't decide how to do her hair."
John B laughed. "It looks great, Bea. Don't worry."
"Thanks, John B," I said, feeling a blush creep up my cheeks. "You guys ready for our first last ywar of school?"
"Always," JJ replied with a mock salute. "Lead the way, ladies."
