"Mommy... Mommy, wake up... it's time to get up."
A soft, melodious voice pierced through the cocoon of my dreams. Slowly, I opened my eyes to see the radiant face of my little angel. The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow on their chubby cheeks. I groaned slightly, savoring the delicious drowsiness that still clung to me, and rolled onto my side to face my precious child.
Pulling my little one into a warm embrace, I felt an overwhelming surge of love and contentment. Their small body fit perfectly against mine, and I inhaled the sweet scent of their hair, a mixture of baby shampoo and innocence. The weight of the world seemed to lift off my shoulders in that moment, replaced by an all-encompassing happiness that only they could bring. Without them, I couldn't imagine how my life would hold any meaning or joy.
"Mommy, please let me go," they pleaded gently, their voice tinged with a mix of impatience and affection.
But I wasn't ready to let go just yet. I hugged my child closer, a protective instinct rising within me. The outside world was waiting with its challenges and uncertainties, but here, in our little bubble, everything was perfect. I could feel their small arms wrapping around me in return, a tender hug that spoke volumes of their love and trust.
"I wish we could stay like this forever," I whispered, my voice filled with emotion. The moment felt timeless, as if we were suspended in a bubble of pure, undiluted love.
"Zinzi, I'm serious, it's time to get up now, and please let me go," Came Lesi's insistent voice. I blinked my eyes open to find her staring at me, her expression a mix of urgency and exasperation as she struggled to free herself from my sleepy embrace.
"Seriously, Zi, we're going to be late for the doctor's appointment if you stay in bed all day." I turned my head towards the foot of the bed, where Stacy sat, completely absorbed in her phone. Her fingers moved rapidly, typing out messages with a speed that suggested she was having multiple conversations at once. If her phone ever stopped working, I was certain she'd lose her mind.
"How did you two get into my villa?" I asked, tightening my hold on Lesi and nestling my face into the pillow. She sighed, resigning herself to her fate, and laid her head on my pillow.
"Don't tell me being pregnant made you forget you gave us keys," Stacy quipped, her eyes never leaving her phone screen. She tossed a dress onto my bed with a casual flick of her wrist.
