Long, Long ago, there was a coffin that drifted aimlessly along the sea. No one knew where it came from nor who it belonged to, but they daredn't touch nor approach the coffin, for humans feared the wrath of monsters that controlled their lands. So it was often said to drift aimlessly, undisturbed, and alone.
Often the coffin would toss and turn through storms, and currents. Other times it would land on small river banks and towns. Even so, it would always find its way back to the endless dark hues of Oceanica. A body of salt water left undiscovered and undeterred, much like the coffin.
One day as the coffin drifted away like any other day, it landed on a current. The current then led it towards The Great Storm. At the time The Great Storm had been especially violent. Sinking the coffin under its bottomless pits alongside the few ships who dared to sail the tempest waves. Multiple times did it rise and fall, but the coffin remained unconstrained by such forces of nature. It merely continued along its unknown path.
Perhaps it was luck? A mere coincidence? But the storm had led the coffin away towards an unknown port. From there, a human sailor had seen it and tilted it away from the port town using his paddle. Perhaps in fear of what could be unleashed from within. The coffin thus began another endless drift.
After years of said drift, the coffin that had been used to swaying amongst waters had come to an abrupt stop. It had drifted onto a new unfamiliar land. Somewhat kin to a ghost land. Abandoned and unheard. Despite the coffin finding a new home, it remained still quiet without a disturbance. As if time remained non-existent. Sadly the same can't be said about the surrounding land the coffin rested in.
From once barren earth to now fertile soil, the landscape had gone through change. Over long periods the land would flourish and wither, as if Mother Nature was singing an ode to the seasons. Naturally, all forms of life would end to make way for new beginnings. A bittersweet cycle that complimented every aspect of life.
As humans saw it, civilizations would prosper until they too would die allowing new civilizations to be reborn from the ashes of old ones. Just as worlds would be destroyed only to give birth to new stars, new planets, and new forms of life. Short-life species would say it's a cruel joke to life while long-life species wouldn't want anything more than to experience death's kiss. It beckons the question: Is it worth a life to live if you aren't living at all? That is what one would explain being stuck in a coffin for too long would be like.
Fortunately, our little vampire would soon awaken to a new world. A challenged world that will rival his reason and belief. Alongside him will stand two zombies who will seek answers behind the life they're given. And throughout such a journey one particular girl will seek answers behind the divine, and dare to rival them in a neverending conflict of cat and mouse. A story of love, hope, and as one would put it sweet, sweet, revenge.
