-Harry-
Chuckling softly, Harry flipped through the day's paper. Ever since the meeting where he announced who would be invited to the next Tri-Wizard tournament the international community hadn't been able to talk about much else. Losing their position for future tournaments had been a huge blow for France and Beauxbatons, even more so when they learn the reason why. Ilvermorny, upon receiving the invitation, had been quick to accept the offer and even sent the request for an exchange student program next year.
"Attention students!" setting down his paper he watched Narcissa stand up to give an announcement to the various students from the three schools, all heads looking up from their breakfast, "I have an important announcement to make. Since its inception the Tri-Wizard tournament has had four main events. The three challenges of the champions and the Yule Ball. The ball will be held Christmas Day and is open to anyone of fourth year or higher. Those from first to third year will have a separate function should they wish to attend that but can attend the Ball itself should a higher year student invite them. Finally, the staff will be holding dance lessons for any who wish or need to learn before the Ball. That's all." Narcissa smiled and sat down as people began whispering.
"So Harry," Karkaroff gave a friendly laugh, the Durmstrang High master having become something of a friend over the recent weeks "which of your lovely ladies do you intend to bring to the ball for the opening dance?"
"That would be Propheta," he answered with a faint smile as he thought about one of his loves "we haven't had a date together for a while. And she would love a chance to attend a ball." He had already informed the other Champions of their duty to open the ball, so they could get a head start on finding a date. "By the way, your Champion and Miss Delacour have come up with quite an interesting plan. Neither of them have anyone here that they actually wish to attend with, so they've decided to hold two events. In the muggle world there are events known as Bachelor and Bachelorette auctions. It's a charity event where single men and women can enter, and others can try to pay to have them as a date for an event auction style. They'll both host such an event with themselves entered as well and the profit donated to charities."
"Yes, Viktor is often trying to help Charities." Karkaroff nods proudly at hearing what his prize student had planned, "I'm quite proud of him."
"He's an excellent pupil." Harry nods "And a fierce competitor." Turning to Pomona Sprout he tilted his head "So, who does your star student plan to take?"
"Just this morning he asked me for permission to cut some flowers from one of my greenhouses to ask Miss Cho Chang to the ball." She smiles, sighing fondly at the romance between her students "Young love, so awkward, so bumbling, so adorable." Most of the elder members of the staff laughed in amused agreement.
"Well everyone, I hope you enjoy your day." Harry nods, finishing his breakfast as he stands up, "I have an appointment with the Goblins later today." Instantly, two Amazons flanked him as he made his way out the door, ignoring the whispers from students who were excited at the idea of a ball. Reaching Narcissa's office he grabbed a handful of floo powder and flamed to Diagon Alley and the Goblins.
Head held high, he walked through the alley and into the bank, the guards doing nothing to stop him or check him as they did for the other customers entering the bank. "Your Majesty." A guard saluted and walked over, having clearly been waiting, "Ragnok is most excited for today's meeting. We've finally managed to find another one."
-Wormtail-
"Wormtail!" Peter Pettigrew flinched at the high-pitched yell of his master "Come to me at once!" whimpering, the traitor of the Marauders slunk into the room of the Riddle Manor where Voldemort's homunculus body resided.
"Y-yes m-m-master?" he stammered out, praying he wouldn't be subject to the cruciatus curse.
"Why have you failed to update me on how Crouch's part of the plan is going?" Voldemort demanded "I know that the first task of the tournament has already taken place."
"I w-was waiting for Crouch's full report to come in m-master." He whimpered, sweating as he saw Voldemort finger the wand in his hand, "Harry Potter faced the Hungarian Horntail and fought it in direct combat. He m-managed to kill it and used the Draconifors spell to a greater extent than has ever been seen to make a small army of dragon copies to fight."
"How intriguing." Voldemort mused "I'll have to remember to use that spell myself in the future, I'm sure people will be thrilled at young Harry giving me such an idea." The smile on the homunculus' face was sickening, even to Wormtail. "What else?" Voldemort's smile vanished an instantly became a cold glare once more.
"After the French representative gave zeroes to every other c-competitor bar their own H-Harry chose Ilvermorny to attend instead of Beauxbatons next time."
"Ah, a school made by a descendent of Slytherin." Voldemort seemed genuinely pleased "I can respect that decision. What else?"
"The only other matter is the Yule Ball happening on Christmas Day." He stammered out, handing over Crouch's letter in hopes that if anything went wrong then Voldemort's wrath would be directed to Crouch and not himself.
"Hmmm," Voldemort's musing expression became a dark and twisted smirk "if we do nothing bar enter him in the tournament then young Harry is liable to grow suspicious. Wormtail, reach out to what followers we have available and arrange a little 'surprise' for whomever Harry is taking to the ball as his date." Nodding and bowing, Wormtail agreed, rushing out to do so and thanking whatever higher powers existed that he wasn't being tortured.
