Days turned into weeks, and Minty's condition continued its relentless decline. The poison had ravaged her body, leaving her weakened and bedridden. Fira and Pip stood vigil by her side, their hearts heavy with worry as they watched their friend struggle against an unseen foe.

"She's not getting any better," Fira whispered one evening, her voice choked with emotion. "What are we going to do, Pip?"

Pip shook his head, his eyes filled with despair. "I don't know, Fira. Orin warned us about the deep, dark forest, but we never imagined it would come to this."

They had consulted with countless doctors and healers, searching desperately for a cure. Finally, a renowned specialist arrived with a glimmer of hope-a potential antidote that could halt the poison's progression. However, the damage already done was irreversible. Minty would never walk again.

The news hit them like a thunderclap. Fira and Pip sat with Minty in her hospital room, struggling to find the words to comfort her.

"The poison... it's paralyzed you," Pip explained gently, his voice trembling. "But the doctors say after surgery, you'll be better. You just won't be able to walk anymore."

Minty's eyes widened in disbelief. "I... I can't walk? But how... how will I help save the forest?"

Fira took her friend's paw in hers, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Minty, you're still part of this. We'll figure it out together, okay? You're not alone."

The day of the surgery arrived swiftly. Minty, nervous but determined, was wheeled into the operating room. The procedure was lengthy and arduous, leaving her friends pacing anxiously in the waiting room.

When Minty finally awoke in the recovery room, her first words were filled with optimism. "Let's go, come on! I'm ready to help save the forest!"

But as she tried to move, confusion clouded her face. "Why... why can't I feel my legs?"

Fira and Pip exchanged a glance, their hearts heavy with sorrow. They explained the full extent of Minty's condition, tears welling in their eyes as they watched their friend's devastation unfold.

"I... I'll never be able to help with the forest again," Minty murmured, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I've failed..."

Fira hugged Minty tightly, shaking her head. "No, Minty. You haven't failed. We'll find another way. Right now, let's just rest and clear your mind."

They turned on the television to distract Minty, hoping to ease her despair. But as the news flickered to life, their hearts skipped a beat. The headline spoke of another poisoning incident at the bar they had visited days ago.

"That's where we were," Minty whispered, her eyes wide with realization. "They poisoned me there."

Fira's brow furrowed in concern. "Those... 'animals' we saw there, Minty. They weren't real animals. They were Traps."

"Traps?" Minty repeated, her mind racing. "Orin warned us about them. They lure you into the deep, dark forest..."

Fira nodded grimly. "And they tamper with your mind, making you see things, hear things... They turn you into one of them."

A chill settled over the room as they processed the implications. Traps had infiltrated the town, disguised as innocent animals, waiting for their moment to strike.

"We need to stop them," Minty declared, her voice filled with determination. "Even if I can't walk, I can still help. We have to protect the forest."

Fira smiled through her tears, pride swelling in her heart. "That's the spirit, Minty. First, let's get you rested up and situated. We'll deal with this together, but we need to be smart. Traps can be anyone, anything..."

As night fell over the hospital room, Fira, Pip, and Minty prepared for the battle ahead, knowing that their next move would determine the fate of both the forest and their beloved town. The shadows of uncertainty loomed large, but their resolve burned bright. The time to confront the Traps had come, and they would face it together, no matter the cost.
