"Meethi, Meethi... jaldi kar der ho rahi hai," Ishika called out, her voice echoing through the house.
"Aa rahi hun, Didu," replied Meethi. It had been an hour and Meethi had not come downstairs yet.
"Ye Meethi ki bachhi school na jaana pade kahin isiliye toh jaanbujhke deri nahi kar rahi?" Ishika thought, shaking her head. She was cooking breakfast for Meethi, but now she wiped her hands on her apron and went upstairs.
"Meethi ki bachhi, tune jaanbujhke late kiya na toh..." she began to scold but stopped short as Meethi appeared at the top of the stairs. Ishika looked at her from head to toe, her frustration melting away into a broad smile. Meethi looked adorable in her new uniform.
"Haaye meri Meethi, kitni pyaari lag rahi hai, kisi ki nazar na lage," she said, her voice full of affection. She placed a dot of kajal behind Meethi's ears to ward off the evil eye. Then, she helped her with her school bag, and they went downstairs together.
Their father saw them descending the stairs and couldn't help but smile. "Oye Hoye Meethi Puttar! Kinni soni lag rahi hai," he exclaimed. Meethi ran to give her father a hug.
"Rab Rakha puttar, naye school mein khoob mann laga ke padhai karna," he said, patting her head gently.
"Jee Bauji," Meethi replied, her voice full of determination. Ishika packed her lunch and placed it in her school bag.
Ishika bent down to her level and said, "Dekh Meethi, naye school mein na sabse khoob achhe se baat karna, apne teachers ko sab achhe se batana, achhe se padhai karna, aur koi bhi problem ho na Meethi, toh mujhe aake zaroor batana haan."
Meethi sweetly nodded her head, her eyes wide with understanding.
"Chalo ab hum school chalein?" Ishika asked, and Meethi agreed with an enthusiastic nod. Holding her sister's hand, she stepped out of the house, ready to face the new adventure that awaited her.
Ishika took Meethi's hand and they left for the school. Ishika had promised Meethi that she would accompany her until she got comfortable with her new surroundings. Once they reached the entrance of the school, Ishika handed Meethi her school bag and water bottle. She met Meethi's teacher and explained the situation.
"Aap bilkul fikar mat keejiye, hum Meethi ka poora khayal rakhenge," the teacher assured her.
Ishika bent down to Meethi and said, "Meethi, maine lunch mein parathe rakhe hai, poora tiffin khatam karna haan, aur koi bhi problem ho toh ma'am se turant kehna haan."
"Okay, Didu," Meethi replied sweetly. She kissed Ishika on the cheek. Ishika waved to her as she left with the teacher. Just as Meethi disappeared from her sight, a voice grabbed Ishika's attention.
"Jaldi karo Bhai, aapne mujhe aaj fir late kar diya!" yelled a kid. Ishika looked in that direction and saw Golu and Naman.
