Chanel's POV:
Students poured in as I organised my desk, piling things together for each lesson. Most kids hated my lessons, not because of me, no. But because of the subject itself. Maths. Definitely not for everyone but when you understand it, you never get it wrong. Enough talk about that, first lesson back from the summer always flew over, as I got to know new students and them to get to know each other. And as predicted, the end of lesson alarm sounded in no time. Saying goodbye to students, I sat back in my chair and waited for the next lot.
The day was flying over, Id had no problems and it was the last lesson now. I watched the door as usual and there she was. Her blonde hair swooped to 1 side, her face looked downcast. Clearly in her own head, assuming about this morning., she slumped into a chair by the window making no contact with anyone.
I gave a warm welcome to my last class, her eyes shooting up at the first syllable coming out my mouth. Trying not to pay too much attention to it, I carried on my introductory lesson.
Bellamy's POV:
Maths. I hated it with every cell in my body. After this morning, I especially didn't need this right now. Not caring about anything, I sat down staring out the window waiting for this horror to be over with.
"Welcome everyone, I'm Mrs Laurier, your maths teacher this year." It hit me right in the gut as she started talking, my eyes piercing into hers while she spoke. I fidgeted in my seat, desperate to be out of this hot room. Paying the littlest amount of attention to her was the logical sense here but when she called out my name multiple times, my head snapped towards her. Embarrassment evident, I nodded my head getting her to carry one "Miss Scott, stay after class please". Shit. That wasn't the plan.
I tried to pay close attention the rest of the lesson as to not get punished even further. However, every now and then her eyes would cross mine and I would instantly look away, for my own sake. Finally the bell rang, students spilled out of the classroom as I slumped even further into my chair.
She dismissed the last student goodbye before closing the door and walking over to me, her hips swaying, I was a hot mess already. Damn you body. She stopped in front of me pulling a chair to sit directly in front of me, trying to gain my full attention. Abide her trying, she failed as I kept my head down, looking into my lap, hands fiddling frantically. "Bellamy look at me" She said sternly, feeling her eyes bore into my skull. "Bellamy." she tried again but to no use, she got nothing.
I heard her move things around, assuming shed gave up and was moving away. I looked up and regretted it. She'd sat down on my desk now having my attention she spoke. "I need to know what happened today" she claimed. Assuming she was on about my earlier bold statement, I stayed quiet. " Bellamy please, what happened to you?" Clicking on to what she was on about, I released a deep breath I hadn't know I was keeping.
"It was nothing, just a health thing" I mumbled, looking down once again, not wanting to think about it. "It clearly wasn't nothing Bellamy, You scared me" She said, worry clear in her voice, I finally looked up into her eyes, they were soft. I smiled a little, seeing she cared even though she'd only just met me. "I had an accident" I paused thinking. "Uhm - I was young, I cant remember what age" She had her eyes set on me, still gentle. "There was a drunk, it was dark on a sharp corner, he was on our side." I took a deep breath, carrying on. "We went off the side through a railing, it got my grandparents" A tear left my eye unwillingly, a soft finger wiped it away, pulling me in tightly. I nestled into her neck, not caring anymore.
After a few minutes I sat up. "I was rushed to a hospital, I had major surgery, I had - a tree branch stuck through my rib, it pierced the edge of my heart" I stuttered going over the memories. I looked over at her, shock evident on her face of how I'm still alive. " I'm grateful I'm here... but i miss them and I wish it was different - I wish it was me" I snapped away from her face, not wanting to see her reaction.
She gently lifted my head up by my chin, eyes glistening with sadness. No words came out of her mouth though, silence filled the room. "I'm so sorry you feel that way Bellamy, its not true though, you're alive and they wouldn't want anything different, I'm sure" She whispers holding my face.
For a moment, I'd forgotten I'd just met this women...and she was my teacher.
