The swirling blur of insults, depression, lies and judgement manifests itself into a society where monsters like you hide behind fake smiles and plastic masks.
Your muffled lies seep through the cracks in the mask, spreading like a thick fog, slowly suffocating me.
I wear no plastic on my face, unlike you my truth is vulnerable. Your clouded eyes cannot see what I can, you cannot see the light shining through the darkness you chose to subject yourself to, and you never will.
You shout across to me from the shadows, profanities and insults carried across by the ever growing fog to my bare ears. I try to block you out, but you shout louder, your words become sharper until they cut at my body making their way into my heart.
You don’t understand my struggle and you lurk closer with your darkness as my light grows smaller. Your words echo and twist through my veins and any effort I make to break free is dulled by a tidal wave of depression.
You laugh as I try to grasp onto the last beam of light shining from the sky. I desperately try to make you understand, I grasp your hand and pull it into the slim light. Your mask cracks as you scream in pain and recede to the shadows yelling louder your judgements.
I look at you with bottomless eyes, but of course you couldn’t comprehend that the truth is supposed to hurt, so you continue to admonish my light until only a small ray hovered above my heart.
I had no choice but to accept my fate, you had pulled me down, stripped me of my dreams and hopes, and what other choice did I have?
I grasped into the shadows as my light dissipated and clutched onto the smooth surface of fate. I placed it over my face, all my innocence fading replaced now by the stretched smile on the surface of my mask.
You finally greeted me with open arms, and so I submerged into the darkness that you had dragged me to. I was fake, I was everything my society stood for.
Are you happy now?
But of course there was no answer, only a mocking grin that now matched my own.
