Background:
Riku Hoshino was abandoned as a child and has no memory of his biological parents. He survived on the streets, scavenging for food and shelter, until he attempted to steal sashimi from the cart of Genta Umemori, a former Shinkenger. Instead of turning him away, Genta took him in, teaching Riku various combat skills including the use of a spear, dual tanto, karate, and even fan combat.

Years later, Riku met Ai in high school, and they quickly became close friends, then lovers. Their relationship deepened, and despite the challenges of Ai's career as an idol and Riku's as an internet singer, they stayed together. An unplanned pregnancy brought unexpected joy and responsibility, and Riku proposed to Ai. They welcomed twins, Aqua and Ruby, into their lives. Riku also took over his adoptive father's sushi cart.

One day, a mysterious girl in black approached his cart, leaving him a box containing a Desire Driver, an ID Core, and a Compass Raise Buckle. Accepting his new destiny with a chuckle, Riku embraced his role as Kamen Rider Claw.
