Mikha's POV
Here I am, conquering the highway as I drove my car. The hum of the engine and the steady rhythm of the tires created a comforting backdrop as I settled into the drive.
With my favorite playlist softly playing in the background, I felt a sense of freedom. The highway was relatively empty, and I relished the smooth, uninterrupted journey. Take your time, Mikha Lim. Buhay ay di karera.
I'm on my way to my campus, far away from my hometown, about an hour drive. I chose to study there since I want a fresh start. My friends are also going to the same school as mine.
I'm in my freshmen year, taking the program of Bachelor of Science in Nursing. My friends also, took the same program because we all have the same interest.
I looked at the time, realizing that I am almost late for the orientation. I stepped into the pedal, almost reaching 120kmph. Eme, buhay ay karera pala.
Anxiety crippling up my system, takot na baka ma aksidente pa sa pagmamadali. I don't wanna be late at the orientation.
I've read the announcement that says there will be a punishment for those who will be late at the orientation. I mean, no one wants a punishment, right?
My friends were already there waiting for me. They messaged me minutes ago, bago pa man ako umalis ng bahay.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed insistently in the passenger seat. Glancing over, I saw friend's name flashing on the screen. Instinctively, I reached for the phone, but hesitated. Knowing the dangers of distracted driving and the importance of staying focused. However, curiosity got me and I quickly tapped the answer button, activating the speaker.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hello!? Bakla! Asan ka na? Malapit na mag start ang orientation! Bahala ka pag ikaw na late talaga jusko bai." Napindot na naman si anger.
"Daming dada! Oo wait lang eto na malapit na! Nakikipag karera na 'ko dito oh." I answered furiously. Nakakadagdag lang ng pressure ang pag call ng bading na to.
"Hayop na yan pag ikaw talaga Mikha Lim sinasabi ko sayo, hindi siyam ang buhay mo!" I rolled my eyes. Nangsermon pa nga.
"Oo, kaya papatayin ko na tong call, baka ako pa maunang mamatay. I'm near na, I'll run as fast as I can once makapag park ako okay." I ended the call and focused on my driving.
After a few more minutes, nasa may gate na 'ko ng school kaya naman agad kong pinasok ang kotse. I quickly found myself at the parking lot, parked the car then proceeded to rummage through my things at the backseat to get my bag.
As I stepped outside, I ran as fast as I can to reach the gymnasium trying to be on time.
"Aw! Watch where you're going!" I bumped into someone. Not now!
As I looked at the girl, I was mesmerized. This girl, a girl who possesses an ethereal beauty that can captivate all who'll see her. I didn't realize that I was staring at her, it's as if the time slowed down, and the world becomes brighter.
She kneeled as she picked up here things.
"What? So you'll just stand there all day watching me picking up my things all by myself?!"I was speechless. Come on Mikha Lim! Don't just stand there! May Mama Mary na sa harapan mo oh!
"I-I'm so sorry! I-I-uh..." Ngayon pa talaga nagka bulol bulol self.
Lumuhod na lang ako at tinulungan siyang pulutin ang mga gamit niya.
