"The hardest thing to do is watch the one you love love someone else." - Unknown

Ruesha was sat in a small corner table tucked away in the back of a café in North London, waiting for Katie to arrive. If she was being truthful, a part of her hoped she didn't show up, but another part of her wanted answers—she needed answers. The bell above the café door chimes. There she was, standing in the door, looking to find Rusha. When she spots her, she walks over.

"Hey."

She doesn't respond to her for a moment.

"Hi." Pulling a chair out, Katie sits down. "You wanted to talk?" Katie always gets straight to the point.

"Yeah, I need to talk to you." Though Ruesha looks okay, a lump is forming in her throat.

"What do you want to ask?" Ruesha's eyes scan Katie's face for any sign of hesitation or regret. The air thick between them with unspoken words.

"When did you fall out of love with me?" Guilt washes over Katie's face.

"Four months before I told you. But Ruesha, I still love you, but not in that way anymore, and I am truly sorry for that." The words "four months" echo in her mind. "Four months... Why didn't you tell me? Why did you wait four months?"

The silence between them was deafening. "I thought that maybe the feelings would come back, but they didn't. Ruesha I tried so hard, but I couldn't love you like that anymore." Tears fall down both girls' faces.

"Was it something I did or said?" Katie just shakes her head.

"You did nothing wrong, Ruesha It was me who was wrong. I never meant to hurt you." Katie stands up, wiping her tears. "I should go," her voice laced with guilt.

"Wait, I need to ask you something." She stands up as well. Katie turns back to face her.

"Do you regret it? Do you regret us? Do you regret everything we had?" Katie's eyes fill with sadness as she considers the question.

"No, I don't. I don't regret a thing. Those years we had together were real—they were real. I regret waiting so long to tell you. I regret how I told you. My intention was never to hurt you. The love we shared was an important part of my life. I can't and won't erase that."

Ruesha was bawling her eyes out now. "So, you don't regret us?"

Shaking her head, "No, I couldn't, Ruesha. I honestly thought you were the love of my life, but you're not. I'm sorry for that." Her tears stopped a bit.

"Thank you for being honest." Katie turns back around and walks out, leaving both of them with a mix of emotions, mainly acceptance.
