She turned towards the window as the plane began its descent.
Her eyes widened at the amazing view. They were slowly spiralling downwards towards a wide blindingly white beach. The glittering sandy shore was hugged by an azure blue sea , the blue so clear that multicolored coral reefs were visible from the gradually decreasing height of their plane.
The island looked so dazzlingly clean and pure, unadulterated by modern technology and urban pollutants , thought Corazon.
The sight evoked a conflicted feeling for her.
One half of her was breathless with wonder at having travelled to this paradise . The other half was quaking with terror that her reckless actions might have jeopardized her entire future.
She turned and tightly held the hand of her companion, her new husband, Ramero, for comfort and assurance.
In response, Ramero put his other arm over her shoulders and dropped a kiss on her forehead.
"Everything will be alright," he whispered to Corazon. " Don't worry , my love... here is where we will live our dream future, grow our children, starting with this one..." and then he bent his head to kiss her stomach.
"I love you so much, tiny baby... and I love you too much, my Cor, my heart... so please just trust me..."
And Ramero proceeded to describe the" mansion " he meant to build for his new family, which he deemed insignificant in size from what Corazon may have grown up on, but will adequately and safely house his " Cor", his heart and his joy , their newly conceived baby.
Corazon brushed away the tears brimming in her eyes and smiled at Ramero , reassured that their future in this pristine land will be secure and happy , fuelled by the love they have for each other. And this puny bundle of joy she now carried will be the glue that will tightly knit their budding family tree. She tried to erase from her tired mind the larger other island she had just left a week ago, and the unhappy memories associated with it.
Instead, she focused on the mini life pulsing on her womb. "Itsy bitsy..., teeny weenie...," In her mind, she heard the song go...
"Teenie...I will call him Teenie if he's a boy , no , Tony fits a boy more... and if it's a girl, I will call her Weenie if it's a girl!"
Corazon closed her eyes and breathed deeply as she felt the thud of the plane's wheels as it landed on the island's airport.
A miniature island, for a minuscule life.
Cute , budding, MINUSCULE.
