Lex nodded to her group “Time to go..” She took a deep breath as they got out of the car stepping into the chaotic city. The buildings were charred, there were screams of both pain and pleasure, and the air was thick with the smell of sex and sulfur. She and her team moved swiftly through the shadows, weaving past the chaos. They kept to the alleys, avoiding the main streets. Lex’s eyes were locked on the compound ahead, her heart pounding in her chest. She could feel the adrenaline coursing through her veins, sharpening her senses. As they approached the compound gates, Lex motioned for her team to fall back, staying in the cover of the nearby buildings. She tapped her earpiece, “Vox ... you with me?”
Vox’s voice crackled in her ear, “I’m here. I’ve got eyes on the guards.” There was a brief pause before he continued, “The boss’s meeting just let out, he’s heading straight for his office. You have a clear shot.”
“Alright.... Lets do this...” Lex whispered, pulling out a sleek, black pistol from her waistband. She crept forward, keeping low to the ground as she approached the compound gates. Her eyes scanned the area, searching for any sign of additional guards. Lex reached the gates and easily picked the lock, slipping inside. The compound was dark and quiet, but she knew better than to let her guard down. She moved swiftly through the grounds, staying in the shadows as she made her way towards the main building where Vox said the kingpin would be.
“Lex you have 2 guards at the main door, but I can’t see inside to know how many are in there.”
“Thanks Vox.” Lex murmured, her eyes narrowing as she studied the guards. She knew she could take them out quickly and quietly, using her trusty silenced pistol, but getting inside the building would be more of a challenge. Lex nodded and took aim, quickly shooting both guards in the head with her silenced pistol. She waited a moment to make sure no one else was coming before slipping inside the building. The interior was dimly lit and she could hear voices coming from a nearby room.
Lex crept towards the voices, keeping to the shadows as much as possible. She peered inside the room to see several armed guards standing around a large table. At the head of the table sat a figure with a distinctive red mohawk. It was her target, the kingpin himself. She took a deep breath and prepared to make her move. She knew this was her chance to take out the kingpin and put an end to his criminal empire. She took aim and fired, hitting him perfectly behind the ear. He slumped over in his chair, dead. She quickly moved to take cover realizing they were outnumbered . She fired off a few more shots, taking out several guards before they could react. Then she turned to make a run for it but was quickly surrounded by the remaining guards. She knew she was outmatched but refused to go down without a fight.
“Lex what the hell is going on...” Voxs voice was paniked in her ear.
Lex grunted as a punch landed on her side, “I got the kingpin... but it’s not looking good. I’m surrounded.” She said through gritted teeth, continuing to fight off the guards. She cried out as a knife sliced across her chest, but she refused to let it slow her down. She fought with all of her strength, but she could feel herself getting weaker by the second. With a final burst of energy, Lex managed to take out her attacker and broke free from the remaining guards. She stumbled out of the building, gasping for breath, as Vox’s voice crackled in her ear once more.
“Lex, hold on! I’ve got some of your men en route to get you all the hell out of there.”
Lex nodded, leaning against the wall and trying to steady her breath. She could feel blood trickling down her side, but she pushed the pain aside as she heard the sound of footsteps approaching. The footsteps stopped, and Lex could sense someone nearby. She peered around the corner, her heart racing as she spotted a guard standing a few feet away. She lunged at the guard, grabbing hold of his weapon and using it to take him down. The guard fell to the ground with a grunt, and Lex quickly stabbed him with the blade. She wiped her blade clean on the guard’s shirt and glanced up, her eyes scanning her surroundings. “Vox? What's outside this building?” She growled into her earpiece, still trying to catch her breath. The sound of gunfire and screams filled the air, and Lex's heart sank. "Vox, what the fuck is going on out there?" She shouted, her voice laced with concern.
