Jungkook pushes open the door to his small house, ducking to avoid the low entranceway. He's dripping wet from the rain, his clothes clinging to his muscular frame, his long, wet locks sticking to his face. Despite the late hour, his mother is sitting on the floor, sewing by the warm light of a single oil lamp. She looks up as he enters, her face a mix of surprise and concern."Jungkook, what happened?" His mother asks, her voice filled with worry. She immediately gets up from her seat and moves towards him, a hand reaching out to touch his wet hair.
Jungkook sheepishly runs a hand through his hair, trying to push the wet strands away from his face. He looks at his mother, taking in her worried expression. "I got caught in the rain," he says, his voice soft. Despite his drenched appearance, he manages a small laugh.
His mother tsks, a concerned yet fond expression on her face. She guides him towards the fireplace, gesturing for him to sit down. "You're soaking wet," she chides gently. "You'll catch a cold."
Jungkook does as she says, sitting down next to the fireplace. The warmth of the flames starts to dry his clothes slightly, but his hair continues to drip.
His mother bustles around him, grabbing a large towel from a nearby shelf. She proceeds to vigorously dry his hair, scolding him gently, "You should've been more careful, Jungkook."
He lets her fuss over him, knowing it's pointless to argue. The feeling of the towel against his skin, followed by his mother's warm hands, brings a sense of comfort. As his hair slowly starts to dry, a soft, contented smile spreads across his face. He gazes at his mother, his eyes affectionate.
His mother notices his smile and stops drying his hair, a gentle laugh escaping her lips. "Ah, you never change, do you, Jungkook?" She says, her voice tender. She ruffles his half-dry hair, a loving gesture. "You should change out of these wet clothes. I'll make us some tea."
Jungkook nods, his smile growing wider. As his mother walks to prepare the tea, he peels off his wet shirt and pants, changing into dry, comfortable sleepwear.
As he gets into his bed, he can hear the soothing sound of the rain outside, the soft glow of the fireplace, and the familiar, comforting presence of his mother in the next room. Despite the late hour, he feels a sense of peace settling over him.As Jungkook sits by the fireplace, his mother fusses over him, drying his hair and scolding him gently for getting caught in the rain. She hands him a warm cup of tea and takes a seat next to him on the wooden floor. After a moment of comfortable silence, she takes a deep breath and says, "Jungkook, your father..."
She pauses, searching for the words. Jungkook looks at her, his expression growing curious and expectant. "What about Father?" he asks, his voice soft.
His mother takes another breath before continuing, "He's been... hired to work at the castle. We'll be moving there soon."
Jungkook's eyes widen in surprise, the news sinking in. The familiar flames of the fireplace cast flickering shadows on his face, the warm colors highlighting his stunned expression. "We're moving...to the castle?" he asks, his voice betraying a hint of disbelief.
His mother nods, a soft, yet melancholy, smile on her face. She reaches out and takes his hand, her touch gentle and familiar. "Yes, we are," she confirms, her voice soft but resolute. "This is a good opportunity for us, Jungkook. Your father's wages will be significantly higher, and we can have a better life there."
